Re: Question

The "turbonator" is pure snakeoil. There's been shitloads of stuff like this on the market for a long time "intake twisters" and "the tornado" and stuff like that - they're all bull butter. Anything that is too good to be true probably is. I read that the turbinator specifically was actually dynoed on a grand am like mine and showed a LOSS of 4 horsepower.

Re: Question

I get a kick out of things that spin the incoming air. Manufacturers go to great lengths to laminate and smooth out the air with vanes and screens. Then some yahoo comes along and claims that spinning air is better and sells a billion fan blades for your intake

Re: Question

No kiddin, exactly. They go on the basis that "It's like emptying a popbottle - when you swirl it the liquid leaves faster." what they failed to consider was that you're spinning the bottle with your hands, exerting work on the water to make it leave faster. In the intake though, the air has to do work on the blades to make them spin - actually causing the air to slow down and be harder to suck in = lost power.
