VTEC is a good system. The downside is it's on a Honda engine. Powerband = 5500rpm-6000rpm.

How many V8s do you know have a flat torque curve from 2,500rpm all the way to 8,000rpm? In fact how many V8s do you know that can even reach 8,000rpm?
