Solution...
well turns out it was the whole rear end assembly. apparently, it was just its time. anyone know what major events might cause this to happen? other than just time gettin it? it only has 150k miles and is a 97 blazer 4X4. gotta drop the dough i guess.... used with parts/labor is $600. yay
