Angry Major Problem

wow. on the way to work i didnt even get around the corner and i noticed during acceleration it whined a little more and was louder than normal. then i heard rattling for an instant and immediately got pissed thinking it was a cat/muffler problem again, which i JUST had fixed a fewmonths ago. well, about 2 miles from my house i pulled to the side and put it in park, when i put it back in drive, the gears were grinding like a son of a bitch. i put it in reverse... same thing. i got under and looked for as long as i could bear the noise, and it looked as though the driveshaft was turning, and the U joints were there, so maybe possibly its a rear end? thats what im thinkin. im having it towed intoa local, respectable tranny/rear end shop to get it looked at/fixed while im working all damn day today. sucks. any opinions, thoughts? isnt this rare for a rear end to go out? i take good care of it.

Re: Major Problem

try using jack stands to lift the rear up and then press the gas to see if you here it. hows the fluid look in the rear? brown or silver? if its silver it may be the rear end. if its brown it most likely not.

If you had it in gear but was not moving and the driveshaft was turning....I'd say it was the rear end. No way should it be turning unless the wheels were turning also.

Re: Major Problem

Ah, this is why people shouldn't start new threads with the solution.

Waste of time.
