Angry doesn't pay to help people!

On my way to work on sunday morning at about 5:00AM.

I see a guy pushing a 92 ZXR750. As its winter here and bloody cold, I thought I'd hate to be him, so I pulled over to help him.

Turns out he needed a jump start. So i offer to use my bike to jump start his but it didn't work. (Couldn't clutch start it due to a slipper clutch)

Anyway, as I was about to tow him home he pulled the jumper leads off his bike without telling me and shorted out my bike.

No fuses blown and all it does is click . No clutch start and heaps of power available from the battery. So I'm thinking "I've blown the FI system."

I thought I'd try one more clutch start, so I pushed it up a hill and got it up to about 25mph and managed to clutch it.

Moral of the story. Don't trust anyone while jump starting.

Re: doesn't pay to help people!

Well, I am sorry to hear about your misfortune. It is admirable that you would stop and help a fellow rider. I think many of us would have done the same thing. It is unfortunate that you ended up paying for it, or will end up paying to get it fixed.

You know what is worse, I would have done the same thing you did in that situation, and even though you got the bum end of the deal. I would probably still stop and help the next guy in that position. I am guessing there is a good chance you will too.

You got shafted on that deal, but I think you know that most of the rest of us would have done the same in that position. I would.

I hope you figure out what went wrong with it so you don't have to bump it all the time.

Always remember that you reap what you sew. Everything will come back to you. The good things you do, and also the bad.

God wont forget what you did for that person. SO it was worth doing

if the glass is half full maybe.

if the glass is half empty then maybe its payback for something i did before.

not believing in god, the glass is twice as big as it should be and shit happens.

had to do a default shutdown and restart on it to clear the fault. lucky thing after all

Glad to hear it is working for you again. I guess it wasn't that bad after all.

Re: doesn't pay to help people!

Well, first thing that comes to my little mind is never jump anyone with your bike. I know, i'm a dick, not really, I just know what could happen. I will always pull over for someone (fellow biker) but I am not gonna sacrifice my ECU for someone I don't know. They can just run up the min on my phone and call for help. I seen a car get fucked that way. And to me it seems like stuff costed more for bikes.

never discuss religion or politics. it'll lead to war. i don't won't to discuss religion because it'll go on for ages. if your right and there is a god, you'll lead a happy life and afterlife. if i'm right, no-one will no the difference. therefore i envy you

most new bikes have caught up with the car's and now have ECM's.
mine has the HISS built in as well. so without the microchipped key it can't start.

are you speaking generally? don't know about that mate, we're already at war. as long as people exists, they'll manage a way to go to war, religion or not. it's a formal way of going "postal."

Re: Re: doesn't pay to help people!

Anyway, for what its worth, I'm glad you helped that dude. If it was me, I'd try not to do something as stupid like pulling out the end without consulting. Even if I did, I'd do my half on paying for your bike, it's just the way it goes. Great intention, I hope you don't lose it after this.

I really don't think you should be sharing the info about where your unit is headed, lol.
