WIP Glue bomb - Tamiya Mini Cooper
So here goes with my 2nd post and third model...Please give your feedback because I want to learn. Although it's a bit embarassing when I think about the quality of work here!
It's a Tamiya Mini Cooper - super kit but soooo small - I managed to lose 2 parts while making it (thanks to my ww-models in Poland for replacing one of them in 24hours!!). I set myself a goal with this kit to learn how to use BMF, try some more scratched detailing and try and get the paint right ![]() I've started with the painting the big bits. Body colour is Motip auto from the can and rest is Tamiya X and XFs with alclad2 for the small chrome parts. Basically everything is painted as Mr. Tamiya instructs but I also made heavy use of other people's threads looking for ideas. Then I tried my first flocking attempt (washed it off 4 times before I was kind of happy). 50:50 mix of black and grey colours. The first engine parts I want to detail are the brake servos system (I think that's what it is). using this as my reference for the engine bay: ![]() and some 0,5mm brass wire which I bent by hand and some helpful swearing I got this in the end. I'll use some PE fret to make the "bracket" holding the pipes. I carried the brake piping under the floor pan (not meant to be accurate just "there") Then added some other wiring for the air ducting (braided hose from antenna cable) and cabling for the windscreen wiper motor and washer bottle (these probably won't be visible in the end) and speedometer cable Thanks for looking and let me know what you think so far. stevenski Last edited by klutz_100; 07-28-2005 at 04:54 AM. |

Hey Stevenski- it looks awesome. I really can't see what you mean by glue bomb at all. Terrific looking work. Looks like you got the BMF and the flocking right, and the engine bay detailing is great.
I just found one of these at a model show a couple of weeks ago. It's terribly cute, and I'm looking forward to building it- but I'm sure I won't get to it this year (or maybe next ). Nice reference pic, though!Good job and keep it up!

I honestly have no idea what a "glue bomb" is.. but the model is looking really nice. Love the details.
