Best ECU solution

Hey everyone, obviously there are posts all over this board with opinions on ecu upgrades. This is really something I would like to address on my car because obviously I want to get the most out of my mods. I don't have easy access to a dyno whenever I would like and would like something that is fairly "set it and forget it." I also want to be able to keep the normal functioning of my check engine light(something that has been a recurring issue with my lude but that's an issue for another day) so I really don't want to have to resort to a bypass switch. I have heard various reports stating that the ecu resets to stock performance about once a week, as well as reports that I should only have to pull the ecu fuse to reset it after I get a new mod done(if this is true then I don't really need anything else for now I suppose).

A straight answer on this would be appreciated. Thanks
