s10 4.3l questions

Does a 1988 4.3l tbi z motor from an s-10 have the same cam as 1993 4.3l z motor from an s-10?

Also, are the 4.3l tbi z motors from a 1500 pickup the same as the ones in the s10s?

Thanks, Cory

Re: s10 4.3l questions

I think the later 4.3 cam is slightly different. As a general rule, GM widened the LSA on most of their cams in about 92-93 when most switched over to MPFI. I'm not even sure they are interchangeable. Didn't they switch to distributorless ignition about that time? If so, that cam probably doesn't have an ignition drive gear, but you probably know that better than I do.

Within the same model year, the 4.3 in the S10 is identical to the one in the full-size trucks.
