Arrow Air Bag suspension

I just recentley bagged my 99 silverado, but i hate the fact that the compressor is so loud. Then when ever i hit the switch, there goes the compressor again. Ive seen people using compressed gas; my question is what kind of gas is being used and what kind of precausions do i have to take. Also are there any drawbacks? and does this replace the compressor and air tank. If you have any websites that would help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Air Bag suspension

Sometimes they use nitrogen, just for simplicity, but I've seen others use just compressed air, like from a SCUBA pump. The problem is, once you run out of air, you're out of air and you need to get the tank filled again. There are also risks carrying around a cylinder with 1500 psi of air. The nice thing about a compressor is you can just store 150 psi and be fine since its refillable on the go.

Try a different compressor. There are some that are pretty impressive and relatively quiet.

You could also relocate your compressor. At the parts store they have suspension bushing kits for sway bar installations. Using the rubber bushings to isolate the pump will work wonders. If you want to go one step further, mount the compressor to a piece of MDF (sufficiently sealed from the elements with paint or something) then mount the MDF to the frame with those rubber bushings. Use all of the bushings to completely eliminate metal to metal contact, just like with the sway bar.

Re: Air Bag suspension

if you have a source of shop air, you could hook up a fitting to charge your reserve tank when the vehicle is parked. but unless you have a large reserve tank the advantige is minimal.
