Unhappy lazy transmission on a pickup

Hi, I have a '86 toyota pickup, with a 2.4 22R engine, the transmission is automatic 3 speed with overdrive, I've had it for about 2 years now, and it has 130K miles on it. The problem is that the transmission shifts too late, especially 2-3rd, and the rpm goes up like crazy before it shifts, unless I take my foot of the gas for a sec earlier, then it would shift OK, I changed the transmission fluid and filter, transmission fluid is at the right level, still no change, even seems to be getting worse lately. Please help me if anyone knows what that could be? Thanks.

Did you find out what the problem was? I also have this with my 4-Runner. It started after changing the transmission fluid with my 90,000 mile servicing. I then tried having the fluid flushed to remove any particles that the fluid change did not remove. But this hasn't helped.

its called getting close to time for a rebuild, the bands and clutches in the tranny are starting to slip, next time put a tranny cooler on it, it will help an automatic tranny live 5 times longer..
