Engine swap cost?

Okay you guys, I know this has most likely already been answered but it's 12:20AM and I got 2 tests tomarrow and I dont wanna look for it. I just got $1000 for doing well on some tests at school and I have $400 saved up. I am thinking of saving up for a b16a g2 engine swap. I'd like to know how much something like this costs installed. Also, I wanna know how much more it would be than just getting the b16a g1 installed. Thanks.

i see 2nd gen b16s for about 2300 and first gens about 1300. but you need a 500 kit to make first gen work on your hatch, so the difference between motors is actually 500. IMHO unless you plan to built in before swap, it makes sense to but the 2nd gen and have less hassle w/ swapping it in. It should be a bolt in deal.

Exclamation it matters

It matters what kind of engine your swapping and also what kind of car you are putting it in. Also if your getting a shop to put it in or if you are doing it your self....

So true .. if you have hookups to all the resources then prices will vary ...

I am most likely going to get a shop to do it. I know it saves me money by getting a friend to do it, but there is always that insecurity that it wasnt done right. I say, if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself...pay someone else who is a professional to do it, and just work overtime at your own job to make up for it. Btw, its for a 92 civic si hatch, and it will most likely be a jdm g2. So....how much ya think?

I've been there done that and looked into all the places around maryland DC VA and all the dif online shops that sell engines

I myself ended up having a shop do it becuase I work 5 days a week and have no time for downtime on top of all the tiny things that always go wrong they all add up maybe a broke axle or wrong ECU exhuast does not fit right... list goes on

anywho I've found most PRO shops being big name shops like Inline PRO "VA" and others run for around 4000-5000 GRAND! to do a B16A swap thats the 1200 bucks engine and if you use the B16A2 well add another grand to it

the B18A was pretty much the same as the B16A just a grand more
Im guessing they figured why not up the prices on the B16A swap so people would just go ahead and pay for the B18Swap

http://www.crxguru.com/motorswap.htm

that is the best place I've found around MD/DC/VA Area
looking now at his webpage the prices just went up... doh but I will stand by his work as being a great job and hes a great guy to deal with

plus everything he told me was true he said it would be done by fri I drove it home fri he told me it was going to cost so and so much and it was right on the money

most shops I've found add tons of EXTRAS up

if you end up doing the swap yourself keep in mind that JDM stuff is not in great cond like I said everything that came on my engine sensers/throttle body and a few others were all broke since he did the swap he took care of it but if you had to do it that could be alot of extra money

all I can say is once its done you will have a big smile on your face for a very long time everytime you touch the throttle =) WeeeeeeeeeEEee

check it out. I put a b16a3 into my car from a 97 delsol. on the net the engines were costing 2350.00 - 3000.00 I grow a brain and do some research around here and there is this huge azz like junkyard that specializes in engine swaps and packages. I got my b16a3 with 41k for 1650.00 complete swap, engine, ecu, suspension, axles, shift linkage, hydro tranny everything you can think of for 1650.00 and then some. so then I needed someone to install. I go to local chinese guy that does swapz. tellz me 900.00 I tell him take a hike. Call another shop 500.00 to take my sohc vtec out and put the b16 in. Reason being cause there is no modification needed to put the engine in, so why pay some azzhole 900.00. He is just ripping people off. moral = one place is totally diffrent then another, the deals are out there just find them. Also I had a down payment on an Ls motor for 1500.00 with 22k on it. When I seen what happened to my friendz frankhenstein I asked for another engine and so he did some searching and I ended up with my b16. I am glad cause boring out this engine and resleeving it with high compression pistons spanks the frankhenstein.

another thing.. If you pay 5000.00 for a b16 you are totally f_ckin retarded. gsr's run for 3300.00. You telling me you would pay 1700.00 for someone to put it in. ummm NO. N/M A B16. you get RIPPED OUT THERE IN VA BRO......

post the info about that engine place becuase most USDM engines cost you out the ass

Delsol/SI B16s I've seen for 3000 bucks just for the engine and thats with over 100k miles

on top of that everyplace in maryland that I've checked has a waiting list on GSR/Delsol/SI engines

even looking for engine parts like ECU or Distribtor I've had a very hard time even simple things

not sure about your state but in maryland people buy the hell outta anything B in turn that makes the prices go up becuase they know they can get away with it and also makes it hard to find anything

so if you have a link or a # to that webpage please pass it on we could all use a great resource like that

Jeff

Man, that's good advice!

The local shop here only charges about $600 more than it would cost me to do a ZC swap myself and I get a 12mo warranty and Dyno Tuning!

The B series swaps are about $1200 more.

I've got a 91 Civic Si BTW

I think that's bad advice. What if something breaks or goes wrong? Are you going to be able to afford the downtime while getting back in touch with the person who did it? Can you afford the labor for everything? The best advice is do it youself. If you don't know how, then research it until you do. Nothing is more upsetting when you're trying to talk to somebody about their car, and they don't know shit about it because they haven't done a thing to it themselves.

Hey what's up everyone

Lol....Don't mind the screenname b/c it's my friends' account. But anyway does anyone know of a shop around the area that will get me a B16a and do the swap as well? I live in Pennsylvania and I found one shop in LBI, ew York that will do the swap for around $3500. I thought that was kind of steep. BTW, my car is an 89 civic hb (dx model) so i have my smokin 1.5. I mean it's literally smoking. hahaha.
So can anyone help me out and toss me some reputable shops.
Thanks,
Mike

get the B16A sirII, 2350 off of hmotors. and then Ill take the D16 out and put in the B16 for 500 bucks

how come you dont try yourself, I havent finished mine, not cuz it is hard, just cuz it has been rough trying to find all my parts, I didnt get a complete swap cuz they dont offer them for the B20. but if you get everything in one package I bet itd only take you a week tops.

Where in PA do you live? I live in Central PA, Harrisburg area. I know of a guy that will do swaps for 500 if you give him everything to do it with.
What generation B16 was the guy going to swap in? Hopefully gen1 because it's a lot easier. First off, non OBD. And second it has a Cable trans like your car does now. And third reason to get the gen1 B16A, it only costs like 1200 where as the G2 is like 2200.
