Did ya' do that yourself?....or did your boyfriend do it?

Ok. I'm just wondering if I'm alone when I say it drives me crazy when I see chicks with completely modded, riced out cars, that they did not touch a single nut or bolt with their own hands. I mean, it's all good to get help from guys who know a little more and can give you tips, but JESUS CHRIST!!! I met this girl the other day with an Integra. Aggressor body kit, Shogun wing, intake, exhaust, headers, rims, DVD player, the whole nine yards. I was like, "nice." Her boyfriend paid for all the mods and put them on for her. I'm sure she was out shopping, with a cell phone glued to her ear, while he was doing it. But, anyway...if there are any girls out there who can relate, please let me know. Also, sorry to any of those chicks who are what I just described. No offense, but the ride feels a lot sweeter when you can say you put a hand in getting it the way it is.

i have to admit that when i met my boyfriend last year, my lude was bone stock, and i didn't have the faintest clue when it came to modifying cars. i'd checked out some magazines and stuff, but i didn't even know where to start. fortunately, my boyfriend also happens to own a speed shop...woo hoo! except for presents, i do pay for my own stuff...albeit at cost :hehe:

as for working on my car....i started out as prissy as they come. but i AM really interested, and i'm trying to learn. i'm so retarded, i went to howstuffworks.com, and i tried to learn about engines and turbos and stuff...lol...but it helped. i've helped with the things on my car that i could help with....everything but the body work. there hasn't been much as far as internals yet, but my new tranny just arrived, and i'll be helping to put that in this weekend (my tranny's shot)...and as soon as i find an automatic H22A ecu, we'll be doing the swap....yesssss, i said automatic

I pay for everything that goes into my car....and my car itself....and I don't have a boyfriend....but the hard stuff I'll leave to the pro's or my cousins, I'm learning bit by bit...how to do things. My hands have been greasy all week, from fidding with the city turbo we are restoring and my car.

are you switching to auto or from auto???

i do all my mods myself, help my bf with his, I'm going to school to be a mechanic (hopefully a race mechanic), so i guess you could say my life revolves around cars.

I'm partially guilty, i do admit to having my b/f work on my car, he installs all the engine stuff and i do all the exterior and interior stuff, but i feel like such a retard when he's telling me something about my car that i have no clue as to what he's saying, it goes in one ear and out the other. I try to learn but he will always dominate when i comes to cars, i have a LS and guess what he has a GSR. :flash:

preps riding hooked up becuz of boyfriend

Hey GrrlToy... Ill back you up on that statement about chics driving cars that their boyfriends worked on. Preppy snobs like that shouldnt be allowed to drive hooked up cars. About a month ago, i knew nothing about mod'ing a car, then i decided to go for it, bought myself a geo storm and I am doing all the work on it. My boyfriend wants to help because he knows about all that stuff, but you are right.... it feels better when you do all the work, and you are up to ur elbows in grease, and once ur done, you take that puppy on the road and watch everyone mouth drop. And thats when you pull up alongside one of those ditzy shop-a-holic chic and be like " :finger: i did this myself you didnt"

Well I completely understand what you're talking about. There's this one girl in town that has a rich mommy and a police man daddy, and they give her all the money in the world to fix up her car. She takes it straight to the shop and pays them ungodly amounts of $$ to fix it up. It's funny, because I know the shop owner that she goes to, and he says that she knows NOTHING. He kind of rips her off too, and she doesn't care to notice. :hehe:
She wanted to be in our crew, but she's so cocky about her car, and yet knows NOTHING about it, we said HELL NO!

Once we were putting anti-freeze in my buddie's car, and she walks up and was like, "you're putting GREEN stuff into your car? what does that do? is that bad for it? I thought you could only put stuff in here... ~~pointing to the oil cap, btw~~" We just looked at her, shook our heads, and kept on talking with eachother.
We wouldn't hate her so much if she gave forth the effort, but she's a POSER. There's this girl crew up here too, full of posers. Acryllic nails, prissed up clothes, and scared of getting dirty. Yet, their cars are hella nice.
I mean, if you don't know much, but you're trying, and you're interested in learning, all the power to ya. But if you're gonna sit there and be cocky about, "oh, this is my car, look what I did to it, it looks better than yours and can kick your's ass..." well then you'd better have the know how to back it up.

And why is it that those girls have to be such haters?? I get such dirty looks from other chicks. You know when you meet a true girl racer. She'll compliment you. The posers just give you dirty looks and try to shoot you down.

"And thats when you pull up alongside one of those ditzy shop-a-holic chic and be like :finger: i did this myself you didnt"

Ah, yes, one of the greatest joys

well, u know, out of everyone on my team, im the ONLY chick if that tells u anything.Alot of chicks around here have riced out cars, or mommy and daddy bought them altezza tails and neon windsheild wiper squirters.Id like to see them try to install a simple intake or change their own oil LOL.I got into imports back in highschool when i saw a kid at my school in a white hatch.i fell in luv immediately and have been obsessed ever since.

this is MY car that ive payed for everything myself, except the brembo crossdrilled and slotted rotors those were what i asked for for my birthday LOL.
