90' V6 Manifold

i have an oil leak from valve cover that sits underneath intake manifold; I already fix leak from right valve cover and tried to get to left valve cover on the other side, i can't do it, there is this damn bracket welded to bunch of pipes in the front(pretty much next to ignition wires); do i have to cut that bracket off in order to remove intake manifold

Re: 90' V6 Manifold

I've got two manuals and no one seems to think it's a problem. Sorry I don't have an engine in front of me. Maybe you are just moving the chamber in the wrong direction. Needs to go sideways ot tilt it a small amount then up or something.

Post a photo?

that bracket is denitively in the way, big time; i could partly lift back of the manifold, front can’t do it. In order to slide manifold out either direction I have lift it up at least few inches; since that bracket doesn't move at all im stack , i'll take few shots tomorrow during the day, thanks for reply Brian

foto#3

bracket front layout

Re: 90' V6 Manifold

OK, that is the bracket I figured you were having trouble with.

If I read the manual right, they say that removing the tubing and hoses from the ends of the steel tubing that is around and under that bracket, and removing the bolt that holds the bracket in place, will allow you to move the bracket enough to remove the manifold.

You can bend those tubes a little to gain clearance. I would bend them at the right-angle turn they make to go under the manifold. Bend them as little as possible. You also have a choice as to whether to bend them forward or up and get clearance. Go with whatever direction moves easiest.

Sorry if alot of this is obvious.

hmm... interesting , i dont even know where half of these lines are leading to , im not sure if I what a leak on the top of another leak, i think im just better of cuting U legs of that bracket and bending rest off it toward front of the truck (if u know what i mean, look at U legs of that bracket), even thou that bracket has emboss on it i think i might be lucky enough to bend it and slide that manifold sideways. And bending back that bracket later on; if im not mistaken those pipes doesn't even need support; maybe im just talking nonsense here, i dont even know that truck that well yet

Do u think is gonna work ?, Daam 4runners
