Question Ferrari 328 engine- what is this?

I finally got the Hasegawa Ferrari 328 on ebay, and I'm working in collecting references for it (Yesss, another full engine build! ).

Browsing online pics, I haven't been able to identify what ths component is (circled in red).

Looks to have 8 brass tubes running out of it (circled in blue), leading to each bank of cylinders, going into a port on each (circled in green).

The 328 is the first generation of Ferraris without a carburator, and the last generation with a conventional ingition system (distributor cap, not electronic ignition). Is this maybe part of the fuel system?

another view:

Any guidence would be greatly appreciated!

Yupp!
That's the fuel injection system with the fuel lines going to the injectors.

It's a Fuel Distributor.

Used on mechanical fuel injection systems, it takes one incoming source of fuel and distributes it (via passages inside) to a fuel line connection for each cylinder.

A huge pain to replicate in scale, the lines are all exactly the same length!

I wired the system on the Audi Quattro (5 cyl) but I don't remember if I did on my 328 and didn't put it on my Testarossa's because it is almost impossible to see.

I'll have to check the 328 when I get home tonight...

I've got this kit too. Never have the guts to build it yet. In the picture of the fuel distributor it seems to have 9 lines (one in the middle). So, each will go into the port circled in green, so there will be four on each side but where will the line in the middle of the fuel system go (apologies for the stupid question)?

Not a stupid quetion!

Borrowing this diagram of a four-cylinder Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system:

The line going into the middle fuel distributor (#3) comes from the control pressure regulator (#8). Note the vertical plunger in the center of the fuel distributor working on a lever device (#2) which controls flow of fresh air into the air filter (not shown).

Other devices shown:

#1 fuel injectors
#4 fuel pre-pump
#5 main fuel pump (electric)
#6 fuel accumulator
#7 fuel filter
#9 cold start injector

This system is also know as "CIS" or constant injection system since it's always pumping. You might already see the waste in this type of system and how much more efficient electronic fuel injection would become.
