Unhappy Your First Accident???

Sorry this is kind of long...This happend like a month ago but oh well. I was heading home one day in my 1990 4 door 220k 92 horsepower civic which I got from my moms friend for 700 bucks while I restore my 56 chevy. I was almost home and this yellow Nissan..Im not sure what year it is cuts me off from the far right lane into the lane to the left of me, needless to say it got me a little aggrivated. So we stop at the next light which merges up ahead. The Nissan inches a little bit trying to predict the light and ends up being half a car over the crosswalk. O_o Right when the light turns I gun it creating lots of white smoke Im sure and pass the nissan and begin to make the turn onto my street. Unfortunatley I was still going pretty quick and made the turn way too sharp into the other side of the street, and just my luck theres someone comming right at me. Soooo I turn the wheel in effort to bring my car to the right side of the street and what do you know I end up hitting a parked 1989? Mercury wagon. Luckily they didnt have insurance or anything and just let me pay them 100 for the "damages." The wagon didnt have a scratch..however my civic crumpled like a wad of paper. I cracked my radiator and ruined most of the front end of my car. But its a month later and after a few trips to the local pick n pull and three cans of spray paint its back to life. I was lucky this time, and Im just glad my insurance didnt go up because 16 year old guys dont get the best rates...

Re: Your First Accident???

My first accident was 2.5 years ago, just after I got my licence at 16. It was my first winter driving, and I was going like I would when it was dry, except there was snow. I was going 45 in a 25 mph rundabout, and I slid into a parked car. There were a lot of people there, so I pulled over, and called my dad, and called the cops. I just told them that I lost control of the car, and they never asked how fast I was going, and never got a ticket. The cops wrote a note and left it on the windshield of the other car, but they never got back to them, so I didn't have to pay anything.

Re: Your First Accident???

First and only I was waiting to make a left into my street and a lady in a Camry hit me going about 25. Don't know how she possibly could have missed me, but ended up doing about $1800 worth of damage. Her insurance covered it all.

Re: Your First Accident???

First and only, I was at work and the brakes on a brand new Mercury Grand Marquis failed and I ended up airborne and then at the bottom of a 10ft deep drainage ditch...fun stuff

Re: Your First Accident???

Just a month or two ago I took my eyes off the road to get my friends Drag Helmet out of my passenger seat when I heard a scraping and ended up sideswiping a parked Monte Carlo. My car's fixed now...but I definately don't take my eyes off the road.

About ten years ago, I was going to an out-door class in the Il. State forest. I was going down a very steep hill with a sharp turn at the bottom and changing the radio at the same time. When I looked up I was starting into the turn and here is this pink crotchrocket right in the middle of the road. I locked up the brakes doing about 15-20 miles an hour and we hit.I hit the guy on the bike flush in the side and he slid off the seat to set on the hood of my truck. He gave me an O-SHIT look and when we stoped, he fell off the hood. I gave myself a concusion (#2 of 5) when I attempted to throw open the door to help him. Little did I know that the fender was pushed into the door which came back to hit me in the head and nearly knock me out. After I got out and hepled the guy up, we called the cops and waited two and a half hours for them and a roll-back for the bike. Cops and ins. co. decided it was his fault and made him pay the $2100.00 to get my truck fixed.

Re: Your First Accident???

I've only had one accident and that's all it was. It was 3 years ago and I had had my DL for about 3 months and we were moving so we were going back and forth from our old house to our new house. I was driving our old minivan that had a huge plastic drum for transporting all of our fish but it was empty and just in the way. Well...I hadn't noticed my gramma had showed up with her BRAND SPANKIN' NEW Cadillac Seville STS and I backed right into it.

I was like "WTF did I just hit?" I get out and there's this Caddy there and I couldn't think of who's it was and my little brother comes out yelling that he's gonna tell on me. I didn't care I just looked to see the damage and the tail light of my parent's minivan was all over the driveway and there was this huge red mark on my gramma's black STS. I felt so bad but I was able to just rub it off somehow, so no big deal and since the minivan sucks anyways who cares. But I haven't been in an accident since...not that I can remember anyways.

Re: Your First Accident???

This was the worst accident in my case. It was December of 2003. I totalled the Civ. Some friends and I went down to Southern Utah to meet some girls we met the previous weekend. I had work the following morning, and one of the guys was supposed to drive home so I could sleep. Although we were planning on leaving at around 11 pm that night. We never left until 1:00 am that morning. I had work at 4 am and they were all tired.

So, being frustrated with the entire situation, I decided to drive and try to get home as quick as possible. We left the girls, and started on our way back. I was so pissed by the fact that nobody could drive that I became very irritable. On the way out, it actually started to rain a bit. Not thinking much of it, I continued my route, going nearly 110 mph. Jonny, my passenger, started to become worried. He told me to calm down and slow down as well. At this point, the rain turned to slush. Not good.

Although, I did slow down, we hit a straitaway. At that point, I figured I should hop into the center divide where traffic had most driven on each side. During the process of slowing down, I felt the car lose traction, and then I knew it was going to happen. 90 mph, the car fish tailed. I completed a 180 degree turn and ventured off the roads backward. All I remember is looking forward, and then looking back at the my friends yelling "HOLD ON!" I prepared to flip over, but instead I heard the 3 loud cracks of the side markers smashing the right side of my car.

When we slowed down, I hopped out to inspect what the damages were. The right side of my Civ was completely gone. My friends hopped out, and I never felt so happy to look each one of them in the eye. We looked out to were we started, but it was dark and the distance was hard to determine (which we later found out that we slid nearly 200 yards). We were picked up by a local who just happened to be "reading his book". He picked us up, returned us home, which along the way the roads became extremely bad, and then the following day, I returned to pick up the Civ.

Once I found out the Civ was totalled, I purchased it back, repaired it for only a fraction of the cost the insurance company totalled it for, only to have my hood fly up and smash my windshield a few weeks later. Thus resulting in the complete loss of my insurance collection, another accident that needed to be fixed, and me with a concussion to top it all off. Yep, that was the worse accident scenario for me. So in the end, I watched the Civ be taken in and repaired for a total of 3 1/2 weeks, I spent nearly $3500 repairing the Civ, and I spent one day in the hospital for the concussion. To me, that's love for my Civic. I don't think it could get any better or worse than that.

Re: Your First Accident???

My first accident happend 5 hours after I got my driver's license. I approached and intersection that was marked "stop except right turn."

I was going straight, so I stopped.
The drunk behind me was going right and decided to ignore the stopped vehicle in front of him.

Wham.

That was my first ... want to hear about my 21st?

Re: Your First Accident???

I have yet to be in an accident, but almost was in a roll over last night. Let's just say, 70mph in a 100 degree turn on wet roads is not a good idea.

Re: Your First Accident???

i was driving around with some buddies in a 1987 pontiac 6000 in a light drizzle, hit a corner too fast and slid off the road onto a pile of downed trees. the car's front tires were off the ground lodged up on a tree, so i had to jack the car up and pull the log out in the rain/mud. IMO Any other car would have had a broken steering column but that car was a tank, it could not be killed.

Re: Your First Accident???

last summer, i just got my Z24, had it for less than a month. Driving with my GF to a water park, i see a yellow light ahead, i stop semi hard, guy behind me in a jeep with no ABS that doesnt stop for shit. Rear ends me with a nice big metal bumper. It was actually just a piece of metal welded onto the front of the car. Needless to say his car was fine, mine had 1,600 dollars worth of damage done to it, that i had to claim on my insurance. Thanks a fucking lot no fault state.
