Hot cylinder???

The clearcoat at the right end of my JRSC manifold (right side, by the blower pulley, as you look into the engine bay standing at the front of the car) has been turning yellow, apparently from heat, for a while now. I noticed while putting in new tensioner pulleys on Friday that there is in fact lots of heat coming from the cylinder head after some brisk driving in that vicinity. I can't trace the heat to the blower or blower manifold, or even coolant hose, but just the side of the cylinder head, particularly on the intake side.

Anyone ever heard about JRSC's destroying cylinder #1's on B series engines before? I heard this a long time ago, more as an old wives tale than anything else, but perhaps there's some truth to it. Not that my cylinder is destroyed, but maybe it's moving towards that... And also, if there is something wrong there, unless there is a blocked coolant passage or something like that, my impression is that a stand alone could help correct the heat build-up. Any thoughts or advice is appreciated, thanks in advance-
