SR20DE showdown!!!
I'm going to the high school drags near seattle today so I skip school, and take an alternate route home.
I pull into the turn lane, and low and behold there is a 200sx se (think its only 1.8 or 1.6 though) , and an nx2000 which I know for fact is an sr20de. I've always wanted to race another sr20de powered vehicle. It was kinda cool with three models of nissan that all came with sr20de's. I figured it'd be cool if we all got to race. As I make the left turn I blip the throttle, to see if I could get the attention of the nx driver. Surely enough he takes off down the road me tailing him all the way up to 100mph. There were two cars on the road, but there were three lanes on the road so we had enough room. I follow him not really pulling too much, and then we come to a redlight. SIDE BY SIDE!!!! WE both looked at each other, but he didn't have really any expression it was kinda wierd? Based on our previous run though I knew he wanted to race. I rev it up around 2k, and let the clutch out and chirp the tires then....... bog, and then I get going. Despite the crappy launch I pulled through 1st 2nd and 3rd stopping at around 90 when I'd say I had a 2 or 3 car lead. It was my first race in god knows how long, but it was worth the wait for an nx2000. I'm going to the local drag raceway today though so I'll be able to get some good races in hopefully. Finnally I get to see what my car can do. I'm hoping for a High 14, but I think reality is more like mid to low 15's. Wish me luck.

This is my best run: R/T 0.465 60' 2.428 1/8 10.02 1/4 15.62@ 86.88mph My first runs were 16's but my car had been on for 3hours, and it was pretty warm. I let my car sit for a while for the bracket races, and set my dial in at 15.75. I figured I'd go for broke figuring I wouldn't best that (old time was 16.22). I lost though by like .001 seconds. I broke out a little worse then the 11.1 second Nomad. I definantley think low 15's will be soon as there is much improvement left.

Re: SR20DE showdown!!!
Were you going through or around the water? What were your tires air pressure at? 2.4 60's are pretty bad..even for FWD. When I spin all the way through first I get 2.3s. If you can manage 2.2 60's you could run low 15s. 2.2s would be 'decent' for FWD. But hell..Jayson cuts 2.0s with FWD..

Re: SR20DE showdown!!!
You did good. Considering it was your first time out, you did very good. Just think of it as a practice type of run. Nobody expects you to be pro first time there. You'll get the hang of it, and soon enough, you'll be hitting those low 15's like you intended on doing

Re: SR20DE showdown!!!
It'd actually be pretty funny if somebody got like an insanely good time their first time out... like beyond pro. Perfect light... impossibly low 60ft.. and incredible ET and trap.
Then everytime they went back to the track, they got progressively worse... ... Man, that'd be a cruel joke to play on somebody if you could do it. Slowly make their car run slower and slower... make them all frustrated...hmmm *ponders how to pull this off...*

Re: SR20DE showdown!!!
Nice runs, I really wouldn't feel bad at all about your times. The first time I went I was running about the same 60' times and only hit a 15.2 with my talon. Granted, there was a track temp of 95 degrees, it still wasn't a good day for me.
Also, nice kill with the nx, glad to see that at least one of us is getting some runs in. PM me the next time your going to the track, I'd love to go and my buddy just purchased a 2002 WRX wagon that he'd like to test out.

I was going around the waterbox. I just need to slip the clutch more on the launch. I'll have to look into some other peoples technique.
