vinyl spray dye

has anyone used that vinyl spray on their interior? how well does it work? does it matter what color your spraying over. also it says it works on fine fabrics. has anyone tried it on fabrics like seats or carpets? also are there any tips you might be able to give me when doing this like how to preping the vinyl or anything that might make it work better? thanx for the help.

I haven't used it myself but, that paint gets results. Just make sure you REALLY CLEAN the desired area(s) REALLY WELL! You could use Simple Green or something good to get rid of any embedded oils/stains. Depending on the area, can use Bulldog adhesion promoter to begin the process. After that, you can spray the area w/ paint. (That is, unless you want to use a primer... just skip the Bulldog part.) And, remember...several LIGHT COATS gets better results than overspray and/or inconsistent thick coats!!!

I've used it a lot, I love it. Matter of fact, I used it today on my girlfriend's car. It works so good, I would recommend it to anyone. I took a couple pics of what I did today, but the pics didn't turn out too well cause it was starting to get dark. But here they are, it looks so much better in person though, it looks almost like it came like that.

i dont think i would trust that thing on seats, because when you sweat you might actually get that stuff on your clothes.

what brand did you use kicker1_solo i've seen only the vht or smething like that. i dunno if it's gonna matter what brand or not but to be on the safe side. Also if i'm looking at the right stuff in the pics it does look really good. is it the tan colored stuff that you did and if it was what color did you do it over? am i gonna run into trouble w/ doing light colors over dark or vice versa?? thanx for the input guys.

I don't know what kind it is, the can is at my girlfriend's house right now, so I'll check tomorrow. The part that I did was the black, it used to be cream. I had no problem doing dark over the light. Just scuffed it and sprayed a few light coats. I'll take some pics of it tomorrow during the daylight to show you how good it looks. The above pics were taken as it was getting dark, so they don't show much detail. I also did my mazda, here's a couple pics of it: everything was sprayed except for the blue, that's vinyl

Kicker, the mazda doors look ALOT better, the grey makes it look so much better then before! Im eventually going to get around to doing my doors but im too damn lazy and its too cold right now to do it... maybe in another month! :finger:

yeah, that spray stuff works so good! The mazda was the first time I've ever used the spray and I just started spraying without even testing it, and it's so easy to use that it turned out so good that anyone that knows how to use a rattle can can use it.

Would probably depend on the brand you used... I would bet though you would want to wait upto 8 hours, or overnight if possible to make sure that its totally and fully dry and cured before you put it in and scuff it up.

When I did my gf's car she touched it after like 15 minutes and I was like no, and she's like but it's dry. So I touched it, and it was completely dry after 15 minutes and then we put it back in her car about 4 hours later. The can says wait 24 hours for it to completely cure and then put it in your car. But I couldn't find anything wrong with the pieces after what we did with them.

mine dried really quick too. i just started doing some f it today and it looks really good. i like the way it's coming out. thanx for the advice.

cool, glad I could be of some help. What brand did you end up using? Be sure to get some before and after pics up when you get it done.
