Just bought a G20, now I got questions
Just bought a 93 G20 off ebay for 3660. It is a 93.5 with 96000 miles. I am going to drive it on Wed and pick it up Saturday from Long Island. I am excited as this car will probably take away the long trip duty from my RX-7. The car is red with tan interior. I got a few questions about the car in general and maintance questions about it
General question 1. What was changed in 94 compare to 93? 2. I want to get a spoiler for this car. Does the OEM spoiler have a mark on it somewhere so i can know it is OEM? 3. What are the things I should look for in this car? Maintenance question 1. How hard is it to change the fuel filter 2. How hard is it to change the timing CHAIN (damn nissan) 3. Can I use SE-R parts on the G20? 4. What are the things I should do other than the normal stuff to make this car run till 200K 5. Do you guys recommand Royal Purple or Redline for automatic transmission fluid? Thanks Tom |

The '94 also has body color side moldings, whereas previous models had black. In '94, the "T" (touring) model became available. There are some disagreements among the community as to what differences there were in the '94-'96 "T" models versus older P10, and '94-'96 non-t models. To the best of my knowledge, the suspension in the 91-93.5 P10 was equipped with progessive rate (from 100-200) springs up front, and linear rate springs in the rear. From '94-96, this was "supposedly"only available on T models, and the non-T models were differently equipped. There may be other suspension changes that were more significant, but I don't know about that. There aren't many other differences that I can think of, other than the fact that the front grill on the '94 P10 has a chrome surround, and is markedly different than the front grill on pre '94 p10's. The biggest differences you'll notice are in the 93.5 when compared with the ones that were made before it. Your 93.5 should have keyless remote entry . . . pre 93.5 didn't have that. Where are you getting this car from? I live on Long Island. Quote:

Most of the changes have been cosmetic. As for the OEM wing I'd say skip it and get somthing more stylish and unique.
As for the suspension, check this thread out- http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...ight=P10+Specs

1: The biggest change is from the high port to the low port on the motor. The low port 94-96 gives more low end torque.
2: Why bother with OEM, wings west makes a spoiler that looks identical to OEM for much less money. 3: Check for alignment, if it is off it can be very expensive to fix. 1: Not that hard, just gotta release the fuel pressure, but thats easy. 2: Pain in the ass, you shouldn't have to worry about it though. Even though (it like anything else) it has a finite life, you shouldn't have to worry about it for a long time, they last way longer then 96,000 miles. 3: I assume you're talking about engine parts, and yes just make sure to get the parts from the right model year. 4: Just take care of it. Rountine maintainence is a must for the SR20DE, it gets killed by not changing your oil at a regular interval (3000 miles even though the manual says 7500) 5: Yeesh, you bought an automatic. Good luck, the auto trans in G20s seems to be unreliable past 100K miles. But I guess if you're going to be doing interstate driving over long distances you should probably be ok. Good luck!

AMEN 2 dat. That's one of the key reasons why I chose the G over Honda, Toyota, Mazda, etc. Given me a timing chain over a rubber belt anyday.
(Damn Nissan?!? Dude, have you forgot what you're drivin'? :finger: )
