ENGINE PROBLEMS... knock knock ...NEED HELP!

I NEEED HELLLLLP!

I have an 86 gt and theres is a very loud knocking sound coming from the engine. It occurs at different stages of rpm's. It is undriveable at the moment as the sound is way to annoying and car feels kinda unsafe to drive.

Need some suggestions

not necessarily spun bearing, but a good chance. So it sounds like a hammer to metal knock? Theres a good chance thats the motors knock onto heavens door...

It sounds like you have a case of rod knock.

If that is the case your engine needs to be rebuilt with some new bearings.

If you stopped the car immediately, chances are you'll just have to replace bearings. If you scored the main saddles (very likely) it will require a complete engine teardown (every single nut and bolt) and a trip to the machine shop. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but a spun bearing is a pretty serious thing from a machinist standpoint.

Time to really assess what this car is worth to you. A new engine will probably cost more than the car is worth.
