Wierd day

I had the wierdest day, today.

Started off when the HR department at work asked me why was I trying to collect unemployment, while I had a full time job??? I was like what are you guys talking about? thats when it hit me along with the other hr representatives (Identity theft) someone is trying to use my social # to collect unemployment, just as I thought my day couldn't get any worse I recieve a phone call from my sister saying I recieved a phone call from the Production office of the Judge Judy show (I'm currently suing an ex-friend who ripped me off for 2400 bucks) I guess he tried to submit our case in to the show and there trying to reach me if I'm up for it. All this seem like if I was on MTVs PUNK'D only it was real. Well tomorrow I sort all my problems out and give Judge judy show a call

I'm taking a HR class right now. From taking this class and and talking to other older men in business I've learned to things. HR fucking sucks and number two the majority of women who work in HR look like dykes.

Re: Wierd day

Sorry to hear about the identity theft. Cancel credit cards, close bank accounts, and get a new SS#. As for the Judy Judy thing, your friend is suing YOU? For what?

Re: Wierd day

SS Administration won't give you a new SS#; you've got to report the fraud to the three credit reporting agencies and they install extra security for you, so that the user of your ss# can't apply for credit, etc in your name.

Re: Wierd day

his friend will probably have enough $ to pay back since judge judy pays, presumably. Sorry about the ID theft. Blows, player.

Re: Wierd day

Your friend probally did not contact Judge Judy, they get your info from the small claims courts. My friend was sueing another of his friends for a cell phone bill he let him open on his nextel account. About 2 weeks after filing all his paperwork to the court he got a call from judge judy too.
I heard from a friend who used to live in Hollywood that if you go to the show, they will pay for you to get there, hotel, and food. Then if they were to see the verdict in your favor they would pay you what you were sueing for, you would get your money before you left. i'm not sure how it would go if you lost, I'm sure they would take care of you either way.

Actually, you just need to report the fraud to at least one credit reporting company. They in turn will notify the other two. I just got a call last week from the fraud dept. of one of my credit card companies asking if I had used my card for either mail order or online purchase within the last week. When I told them "no", they proceeded to tell me that one of the cards I have with them was used a few days ago for a $1 purchase in Indiana. Two days later it was used for a $4400 purchase for an electronics botique in California. The rep told me that the $1 purchase was to see if the card was active, and then it was used later when found to be. I hadn't used that card for over 4 years, and the excellent tracking the credit card company had was able to spot this unusual account activity, and it raised red flags with them. He told me to notify one credit reporting agency, ( I called Experian with the phone number they gave me,) and reported it to them. Within a few days I received correspondence from all 3 agencies telling me they received a fraud report and would note my account so that anybody trying to view my account would have to get my permission, and I would be notified if any attempts to open a new line of credit were to occur. My accounts with the agencies would also be noted with a fraud alert so in the event someone does see my account with my permission, they would see that there was a case of fraud/identity theft. I also am eligible to get a free copy of my credit file to review as well to see if anything is inaccurate.

Re: Wierd day

97ventureowner, I had a similar experience, but they wouldn't report to all agencies (it was several years ago). I'm glad they have made it work better/easier now.

Thanx

Thank you guys, for your advice. I took care of everything which included stopping the EDD from paying him unemployment (this punk collected 19 weeks @$410 per week of unemployment insurance) then I reported the situation to the Police department, and sent a request to change my Driver License # to the DMV (Sacramento), and went to SS office to alert them, and I put a fraud alert at all 3 credit reporting agencies. Just need to wait to see what happens

Keep checking your credit reports for the next year or two to make sure nothing else becomes of the situation you were in. Sometimes it takes awhile for the fallout of I.D. theft to materialize, and keeping constant tabs on all 3 of your reports will give you a "heads up" to something that may appear, and will be needing your attention to correct.

Re: Wierd day

You get a free credit report once a year, and also any time you're declined for credit. Other than that, it's about $7 for a report and check every 3-6 months.
