01 4runner key wont turn off

Hi all, I have a 01 4runner.. When I go to turn the key off it gets stuck in the acc position. I cant turn it to the off position. Ive pressed brake, wiggled key, moved truck foward back.. double ck its in park good. I really thought I was having a blonde moment, anyways I disconnected battery and was able to get the key to go in off position and take out. I connect battery start and try to shut off.. same problem wont go back past the acc position.. Anyone have any clue as to what the problem may be? I cant be disconnecting battery everytime to get the key out !!Plsss Help
