WIP: 1/43 Scratchbuilt Chopper

Buildin a 1/43 Chopper from scratch as a relief project. (We all know the story...1/6 gets annoying, I bitch, then I go back to work.)

This is a really fun project that Im enjoying, despite the size. Most fun I have had building a model since modelpalooza. Well, its got a scratchbuilt motor. Despite its difficulty it was rather cool watching it come together. I was going to say something here, but I lost my train of thought.

Heres a pic of it so far. Oh, aha, thanks to Will for pointing out that my first motor was too small. Then I printed off the plans for my real bike in 1/43 scale. Also, the rims on there in the pic are mockup...they are not the real rims Im using. Now heres the pic.

(Trans is a WIP)

Enjoy!

Looking really good, especially considering the scale. Are those car tires though?

Nabil and Josh, yes I built one before...a very very very crappy one. This one should be much better I hope.

Chuck, I hate to admit it, but they are 1/43 Car tires that Im modifying.

Looks good. Can't wait to see the final chopper. I want to know, how much do you use ACAD in your design process? Or do you use Inventor?

I use AutoCAD pretty often throughout my design processes for most of my stuff. I just took my 1/1 scale chopper that I designed on CAD and scaled it down to 1/43. For my hot rod I've designed the entire thing in AutoCAD down to every last part.

Re: WIP: 1/43 Scratchbuilt Chopper

That looks fantastic. What are you going to do for the wheels and tires in the end? I've been wanting to make one in 1:24, as well as a 1:24 sport bike. I will be watching this.

Re: WIP: 1/43 Scratchbuilt Chopper

I've said it before, I'll say it again, that looks great. That motor looks fantastic, and I'm amazed at the smooth, duplicated curves of your frame. Top notch, dude!
