The Cobra intake is not called the GT-40. They are two different intakes and names wit two different prices$325 vs $600. Now what I think you are referring to is that the Cobras and the GT-40 internally are pretty much the same(within 1cfm flow) but the Cobra is cast outside and the GT-40 is a cool looking tublar outside.

The GT-40 did not come on 5.0 Cobras, Cobra intakes came on Cobras in 93 and then in 94-95 with the SN95 elbow cast in.

The GT-40 did come on certain year 5.0 Explorers.

Are they good intakes.... well the GT-40 unless gotten of a junkyard explorer is way overpriced at $600. The Cobra intake is not a bad intake for the money. But I would not use either on anything but stock or GT-40 style heads cause the ports are too small for good heads like TFS and AFR's.

If I ran heads like that I'd rather run an intake that the ports don't need as much porting to match up and will flow better cfm's period.

Re: mustang cobra intake?

the cobra intake i have is on the 71 engine. i want to know if it will fit a 93 302 HO motor or do it just matter the heads i put on. how would I be able to tell if it is a GT-40 intake or just Cobra? it says Cobra on the intake but I don’t know if that helps.

It sounds like its off of a 5.0. Never heard of "cobra" bossed onto the intake manifold.

I think that is why were are talking about a carbed intake. I think there is a 289/302 carbed intake that has Cobra embossed on it. If anybody has a Mustangs Unlimited catalog look in the intake manifolds that is where I believe I have seen it.
