Raced a cavalier... :)

Heres what happened the other night while my friends girlfriend and i were cruisin around poway at about 10pm...

We were on Poway road, and had a few more intersections till we had to turn onto Pomerado to go home... I was in the left lane, and there was a Cavalier in the right lane a little bit ahead of us. I wanted to get in front of the Cavalier so I could make my turn, so I decided to speed up...

as soon as I started speeding up, I saw a red light ahead, and started to stop for it, I just figured I would haul ass at the light and get in front of them... While I was slowing for the red light, it turned green, so I just gassed it. I had it in 3rd gear, and it took a few secs for the car to rev up to where it starts making boost. As soon as the turbo kicked in, I started accelerating hard after the Cavalier. I think they heard me coming because they sped up too (their car was pretty loud, I think he had some kinda exhaust on it... as opposed to my bone stock 280zx :P) ... we were hanging pretty even till I had to shift to 4th, after that I started pulling away and realized I was doing about 80-85mph in a 45 zone. My friends girlfriend was telling me not to even try to turn at the light and keep going because we were going so fast. When we get to the signal where we have to turn, the Cavalier is about a car length behind, so I put on my blinker and get in his lane. We get to the intersection, and the lights red, so I have to brake really hard to stop. I turn right, and start driving camly again, but the Cavalier pulls beside me and starts tryin to get me to race again, I figured I had put my almost 20 year old car through its paces enough for one night and just cruised home...

It was first time I had actually raced someone... pretty fun too...

I know beating a Cavalier isnt much to brag about, but hey, a kills a kill right?

Good kill. Maybe the more we kill them the more they will learn they don't have a fast car.

yea you beat him so why does he want to rerace and prove his car is slow?

some guy in a civic did a fly by on me i caught up to him from a stand still so his car was obviously slow.... now i wouldn't normally complain but his car had stock rims so he asked to get shown his car is slow and he did a fly-by he was probably laughing his head off when he got into my lane cutting me off thats when i switched to the right and vroom .......THEN this fucking CRX pulls infront of me and i have to brake hard he then continues to go really slow cuz he knows he fucked up ..........i hate it when that happens never saw the Civic again tho

I don't think it was a z24... I'm pretty sure it wasn't, whats the difference between a normal cavalier and a z24?

I'm wanting to go find someone to race again :P Problem is, I never see people wanting to race where I live...

the z24 is the "ss of the cavalier"
basicly its got a slightly larger motor and a stick shift.
i hate it when american car companys try to imitate jap cars.

yeah, corn can't imitate rice man , but the z24 is basically a cavalier witha bodykit and a bigger engine, which actually can have potential for some power, but nothing compared to my good old prelude

Hmm, I know the Cavalier did have a stick shift, because I could hear him shifting...

They made non z24 Cavaliers with manual transmissions right?

I'm not gonna relay to the jap cars and domestics and copying because that's a war waiting to start and anyone who knows me knows where i stand.

Now, i have to ask, Grendal, nicely done!! but how is that your car from 20 years old can stomp a newer cavalier? My Dad's got an 84 Cadillac and it still moves, but it's got 300,000 clicks on it.

Just curious if you've kept it in awesome condition, or if you've modified it up or not.
