The Replacement.

My mom replaced the 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GT with a:
2004 Black 5.3L Chevrolet TahoeZ71 with 16,700 miles. The pictures will be posted next week when we take custody of it. It is going to be PiMpIn good times.

I've sadly learned that the gear ratio maybe only a 3.55. Although great on gas unloaded towing will be a horror. Instead of taking 8 hours to get to highway speeds it will take 8 days. HOPEFULLY it will be 3.73s or 4.10s so this way it won't be as bad. I worked for a friend's dad who would let me use his truck and trailer that he uses for SPCA confenscations to ship the horse. Now I can pretty much stop working and concentrate on school now that we will have our own rig.

Now all we need is a drop ball and ball mount, brake controller, proper wiring or adapter, and a trailer.

Re: The Replacement.

The tahoe may already be ready for trailering. If it has the factory tow package(factory hitch, 8-pin connector), there will be a harness that can solder to the brake controller, then connect to a center under the dash. Then you plug in a fuse underhood and your brake controller is ready to go, no wires to really run.

I have a 2001 silverado 5.3L 3.73 Positraction, and it tows like theres nothing back there with about 4000 pounds. I know horse trailers are heavier, how much do you plan to tow?

Edit: typed in gear ratio incorrectly. Should have been 3.73, not 1.73. I suck at typing.

Exactly. Fucking free will to buy whatever vehicle you can afford. Goddamn this country sucks.

Congrats on the new vehicle NYCowboy. Tahoe's are one of the few GM trucks I like.

Fucking moron ozzies with their small brains and small hatchbacks to match. LOL Oz. Nice job failing to notice everything else he said. Once he said Tahoe you jumped on the opportunity to hate on "Yanks". We don't need that kind of labeling on this forum, remind yourself of our guidelines if you will. Thanks.

(lmao.. Im practicing for a mod audition)

Re: The Replacement.

Rick, if you look at the progression of your thread up to the point of my post....l.work it out.

I'm not hating on anyone in particular. It's hard to be objective on things that are ingrained culturally around you. I understand that. But DON'T ask me to like it. It is ABSOLUTE OVERKILL for what he needs.

And a RWD V8 ute is going to do a FUCKLOAD better job of towing ANYTHING then a 'SUV', and be cheaper to run, less harsh on the environment etc etc etc.

Next person to tell me to back down on this issue is going to cop a PAGE full of rhetoric so step the fuck down now, bitches.
