Hey derekdodge
![]() I don't know about any tutorials online but you can find some cool books on airbrushing in the library. I bet if you look through this site you could find some toot links. The secret to doing it in photoshop is to get a wacom tablet. [IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG]Here it is as a flat drawing and at about 45% done Last edited by grantrl78; 04-06-2005 at 05:39 PM. |

Re: Re: Re: csl illustration updates
Here it is without those friggin hard bbs wheels.
The lighting on this one was confusing because it has a strong secondary light that makes it look weird. Not as successful as the sti. Again - sorry if I pissed anybody off earlier. [IMG][IMG] [/IMG][/IMG]Also here is the source photo. [IMG] [/IMG]

Here is the final one.
Up close the wheels look bad. okay small though. Also left off badge and door creases and mirror shadow. Anybody see anything I botched? Or suggestions? [IMG] [/IMG]

Looks good grant. Maybe sharpen those wheels just a bit. Great work.

Your stuff is godlike! I can't see how you do that stuff with a friggin piece of graphite. That speed12 is the best piece of car art I have ever seen! I am not worthy. You rule! Your work is very impressive. Those wheels are gonna be tough but after looking at the time you must put into your stuff, I can do it

Re: csl illustration in progress
That looks great! If you want it to look even better you might consider adding door lines.

Re: Re: Re: csl illustration in progress
Tried the wheels again and a new hood. Plus some color.
[IMG] [/IMG] Is it bad form to paint in black and white then add color?

![]() Nice work on the wheels, but the hood looks too dark if you're trying to match it with the body color. |

Re: csl illustration in progress
Actually painting in greyscale then adding color is a great thing to do.
It's a lot like underpainting techniques. When you add the color try using a new layer and setting the layers properties to color. Looks like you might have done that but it's worth saying anyway. Nice work. |

Re: Re: csl illustration in progress
Thanks guys!
I dig color but I'm not very good at it ![]() I did try a combination of "color" and "overlay" in parts. Mostly I just have no feel for color. I just got a lcd monitor with dvi in and it makes the first colors look bad ![]() They look way artificial and flat. Will have to try again with the new stuff. Here is the update[IMG] [/IMG]
