Vector toon--Race scene

Made another try at doing a design theat's more realistic than my normal toon stuff.
Still have one more car to add in the foreground and some fixes to make in the background.

Comment?

Re: Vector toon--Race scene

Looks nice, you could of added more detail to the background but the cars are well made!

Re: Vector toon--Race scene

Thanks.

Yep, it is the "corkscrew" turn.

Backgrounds are a very weak area for me.
Trained in technical drawing skills, so not much experience in doing landscapes/scenery design.

There's about 4 full days of vector drawing in this one so far.
The design has 7 different layers, working on the last car now.
It is the closest one in the image with the most detail.

Re: Vector toon--Race scene

Thanks for the comments.

This is based off a ref pic from a vintage race in 2003.
All the cars were running in the same class and there were 3 other cars
in the background that I dropped to keep the image from looking to jammed up.

Re: Vector toon--Race scene

OK. Like I said in a previous reply, "I not familiar with the term 'vector design.' Enlighten me please.

I like this alot. Great perspective, light direction is consistant, great movement. I especially like the car just emerging from the hill crest. Though I like the skid marks they may have a little too much contrast between them and the pavement. But I haven't seen the reference pic it may look that way.

Re: Vector toon--Race scene

Thanks, tried to explain vector/bitmap stuff in the other post.

The skidmarks are the one thing I would probably redo on this. Maybe reduce the opacity so they blend better with the track surface.
Also, make them thinner.
