Stupid question

Hey whats up? this is a really stupid question and i should know the answer... but im more knowledgable if u put me in front of the engine.... but anyways... so recently i was in an accident in my 2000 mustang... its the 3 stage laser red... the metallicy one... and its in the shop... my auto body guy is more then willing to re-do it in the normal color... but he knows im only 19 and if he can help me out in anyway possible he wants to he suggested that when he repaints it he would do it without the pro coat... what exactly is the pro coat and how much of a difference am i gonna see... i know there is the base coat... and the clear coat so would the pro coat be the metallic ish? i know stupid question but just looking to clarify...

I dunno what he means when he says Pro-coat.....

A three stage paint job means that there is a basecoat, mid-coat, clear coat.

Now the mid-coat can be a lot of things it could a pearl, a metallic, a pearl and metallics, etc.., So if by Pro-coat he means the mid-coat no fucking way because the color will totally be off in any case.

No good painter would even suggest not doing the mid-coat and of the big 3(Dupont, PPG, BASF) I can't think of a product line called Pro-coat. I bet you he is probably talking about your clear coat in some way. Paint shops like to either change brands or coats to give different level cost paint jobs. It's really gay and I don't know why they do it but most do.

Just ask him exactly what he means by Pro-coat. Is he talking about the mid-coat or the clear coat.

Have him paint the nose fix the damage and blend the panels, this is the way it should be done!!!

The bonus of this is there is no way it should cost more than painting the whole car even if it was half-assed.

Well.... I'd say maybe just have the bumper painted put on and ignore the rest till you have the money to have the whole car fixed and done right.

A half-ass paint job isn't worth the money cause your not gonna be happy and it's just going to have to be done again at some point.
