Naruto

Is this the best Anime TV show of all time or what? I just recently got into it and i'm loving every minute

The only thing i dont like is how annoying Sakura is lol but she has her purpose in the show

i like the animation, the fights are awesome, and the storyline couldnt be better

One of these days some lucid individual is going to sit down with me and explain that show's damned appeal.

Honestly, it's as mind-numbingly repetitive as every drawn out shonen series that's preceded it, and quite frankly the animation doesn't even meet 1986's standard of excellence (watch Project A-ko for an example) let alone live up to today's cutting edge in animation (Ghost in the Shell, Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust, Cowboy Bebop: Knockin on Heaven's Door, Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade).

So, tell me, what is the show's appeal?

To me.. Naruto is the best anime i've seen in like 10 years

Even the filler episodes of Naruto are the shit, which is where anime like Inuyasha sucks (so much filler sometimes). Naruto has some of the deepest character development that I've seen in an anime in a long time. And all the characters are great, plus the story couldnt be better. Lots of action, and even comedy

It doesnt have the greatest animation but i dont care about that much, i still like the style.

Deepest character development?

C'mon, you're stepping up to the plate to say that for character development, Naruto beats out Satoshi Kon works like Millenium Actress or Perfect Blue? Or Leiji Matsumoto works like Galaxy Express 999.9? How about on of Rumiko Takahashi's series that is actually good; Maison Ikkoku? Or even Kenichi Sonoda's classic Bubblegum Crisis? Not to mention the character development any of the Yoshiyuki Tomino written Universal Century Gundam series like Zeta and 0079 (you know, the ones actually based upon his novels).

Naruto barely stands above other typical shonen tripe like Grappler Baki. Don't try to put it in the pantheon of true greats without seriously considering what the greats are.

Millenium Actress and Perfect Blue are movies, you cant compare that to a series. I meant its the best anime SERIES

And Naruto does have deeper character development because a movie is only 2 hours, the characters cant develop as much as a series thats running a 100+ episodes.

Bubblegum crisis isnt great and shows like Maison Ikkou and Gundam are classics. It basically comes down to matter of opinion which one you like more

Let's see, 2 hours devoted entirely to the study of one character's life and emotions due to one tragic event versus 100+ episodes of "I'll be the greatest ninja ever!"

Yeah, I can really see how Naruto beats out Millenium Actress.

And are you sure you're not thinking of the sick travesty Bubblegum Crisis 2040? Because that series has nothing to do with Kenichi Sonoda's universally adored love letter to the cult classic sci-fi film Blade Runner that launched the careers of many of the great anime creators of the 90's including Masami Obari (later director of Ranma 1/2: Nihao My Concubine, Macross II, and Bastad!!), Hiroki Hayashi (creator of Battle Athletes and El Hazard as well as director of the 1st Tenchi OAV and Burn Up Scramble), Katushito Okayama (director and storyboard author of Armitage: Dual Matrix, and director of Macross: Do You Remember Love?) and Fumihiko Takayama (director and storyboard author of Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket and screenplay author of Rahxephon).

Hell, Shinji Aramaki, mecha-designer for the original Bubblegum Crisis, also did mecha-design for the Naruto movie.

Again, first actually think about what you're talking about, then open your yap.

Re: Naruto

I don't know any of those Anime's you're talking about... but Anime's like Ninja-Scroll are pretty awesome...

I should go and buy that... haven't seen it in a while.

EDIT: After getting a run down on what this Naruto is about... I dislike Anime's that take 62 episodes to finish a fight.

Dragon Ball Z... when that series started I was still swimmin in my dads sack. Now, 22 years later... we're just now getting the story past potty training days.

They just don't get anywhere... a whole season was devoted to Freeza. Wtf.. he was a weakling. He was only a power level 1,000,000. I can reach Super Saijin level 4 while taking a crap... I don't understand why the story moves so slow.

Character development? Nah, waste of time.

Re: Naruto

^^ Exactly, thats why i hate Dragonball Z. I was into it for awhile but i got tired of it cause it was waaaaaay to slow, you have to wait the whole episode for them to power up. Naruto doesnt drag on like that, the fights are exciting and they dont last a 20 episodes lol

Actually I'm a paid anime reviewer over at Anime News Network (and moderator on these forums) who doesn't like people coming around pushing under-informed opinions as gospel.

Fact of the matter is that for every point you've brought up without facts or technical basis to found it on, I've brought in a counterpoint with facts and technical merit to back it up.

You're under-informed and arguing with the wrong person to debate anime with on these forums. I got in on this artform back when Masamune Shirow's greatest creation to date was Dominion Tank Police and have turned it into a pleasant way to occasionally supplement my income.

As GOSPEL?! Can you possibly be that ignorant? You're obviously an elitest anime fan who thinks his opinion is fact

Read my posts... they say TO ME it is the best anime series in a long time. And to the things you brought up i said its a matter of OPINION which one you like more.

Do you understand that people have different OPINIONS?

Just because you like a certain anime more, does not mean I do. This is a FORUM its used so people can share their OPINIONS, stop trying to preach like yours is the only one that counts
