reliability comparison

Hey everyone.

Well, I know none of these cars are the best in terms of reliability, but compared to each other, do you think they are about the same? I like the looks and the prices of all of them, but just need a little more information.

Anyways, here they are:

(any year) Mazda MX-3
95 Eagle Talon
95 Mitsubishi Eclipse (ya I know the Talon and the Eclipse are identical, but just in case there's any difference)
96-98 Hyundai Elantra

And one more thing...would the insurance be about the same for them because of how old they are?

Thanks a bunch!

Re: reliability comparison

Elantra, easily. I know of many sales reps who got an easy 200,000 Km's out of thier Lantra's, the Eclipse and Talon are hopeless (What do you expect? It's a Mitsubishi, the only reason people think they're reliable is because the badge comes from the same country as Honda, Nissan and Toyota). If the MX3 has the 2.0V6 like it does in the JDM (Where it's known as a Eunos Presso), then it's not going to be reliable either, if it's a four cylinder you guys get, then the Mazda'll easily be as reliable as the Hyundai.

Insurance? The Elantra, easily, seeing as the other three are coupes.

Re: reliability comparison

yep... those years of talon/eclipse have TERRIBLE problems with engines. Rings that fail miserably, sensors that die randomly and unsuspectingly, and leaks from cheap weatherstripping.

Those were the growing pains that they went through trying to consolidate models with Chrysler. I would rather have a K-car than one of those Talon/Eclipse things.

Curtis your a mod? either im really unobservant and you have been this whole time, or this is recent...Congrats either way! u definately deserve it

I have heard horror stories about how many problems the mid 90's Talons and obviously the eclipses are the same...Uncle had an mx3-1.6 (2.0?) V6 and it gave him about 220km, not to shabby...and Im totally knowledgeless about the Hyundais but I would trust Curtis, he knows his stuff

Alright, I guess I'll opt out of the Eclipse/Talons. Thanks for all the help!
