a boost junkie after one day?

Last night i stayed up till 1 in the morning looking up online how to safely advance my timing using the jackson racing BTC. Im already getting a headache just thinking about how badly i need a new exhaust and all those goodies. This morning i went outside to go to Dunkin Donuts and when i hit the gas, i realized im a boost junkie. The thing is ridiculously fast and I'm already obsessing on how to make it faster.. ohh boy what have i started...

Re: a boost junkie after one day?

be warned, you are going to get yourself into some serious debt and spend countless hours driving around for no apparent reason, then you will spend more money on gas for premium and all the wasted driving you do. Then everytime you see a chance to make your car faster you will. You wont want to race other smaller 4 cylinder engines anymore, even v6's arent that tempting. Now you will hunt for V8s and only v8s cause your to fast to race the smaller engines.

Re: a boost junkie after one day?

Back before i had my Srt-4 i was hunting Rice in my TC. Now that i have the Srt-4 my targets are such things as 350z's, Evo's, WRX's. I Still can't take too many v8s except mustangs. Its nice to move up on the food chain. Now i wont even give ricers the time of day. Its a waste of time, unless i see a fatty intercooler or a rusted out 92-95 civic hatch that sounds mean as hell without a fart can. Those guys can be nasty.

Re: a boost junkie after one day?

Sounds like you have a case of Chronic Boostilitous.

Chronic Boostilitous: a ferocious disease that affects the mind. Causes extreme cases of adrenaline and thrills for speed. Can be dangerous in the case of noobs to boost. Those who are experienced can often control this disease, if not, you are doomed to disaster.

My remedy? I have none, for I have never experienced this disease. Once again, boost is outta reach. It's like being a kid reaching for a cookie jar suspended 1' over my head. And the only substitute is the crumbs falling to the floor. One day I'll reach those cookies. one day...L8...

Yep, i have Chronic Boostilitous. The variable boost timing controller (sitting in my room) will be installed soon, allowing me to run close to stock timing, which will give me gobs of power. This will be followed closely by a high flow fuel pump (not sitting in my room), and an 8psi pulley (sitting in my room) w00t!

Re: a boost junkie after one day?

I don't know too much about your GSR, so in no way do I mean to tell you what to do. But my suggestion is to fully research your car and how much you can pull timing and such, because I havn't seen your mod list, but in your posts in this thread you don't mention much about the logging/monitoring equipment...

Also make sure your entire fuel system can handle it. A simple pump may not do the trick, you may need larger injectors, FPR, possible even fuel rails. Once again, if you were already aware of all of this, then I'm sorry. Don't mean to come off as condescending...just don't want to see a "blew my engine" thread.

Good luck, and happy modding.

hey man, i appreciate your concern... but I'm only modding as much as the Jackson Racing Boost upgrade stage 1. Anything and everything that jackson racing says to do is way conservative. They had me set my timing from 16 deg BTDC to 10 deg BTDC. Everything i do is by their book, because they know more about how their superchargers are going to affect my car more than just about anyone.
Fuel management is in my future, but 6-8 psi out of the JRSC is no reason for a stand-alone, or even a piggyback. The kit i have comes with a rising rate fuel pressure regulator, as well as a wiring harness that tricks your computer to run rich.
Injectors are also in my future, as well as a fuel rail later on(i hear the stock fuel rail can handle lots of ponys). The boost timing controller just retards a certain amount of degrees per psi of boost (anywhere from 0-2). Meaning i can run lets say 14 deg BTDC (2deg retarded from my stock 16) and i can have the BTC at 1 deg/psi. During this scenario i can go WOT, still get the throttle response and power from stock timing down low, and as boost rises the timing controller will imediately retard my timing up to 1 deg/psi. I just can't stand feeling almost a turbo lag out of my car when i went SC for a reason.

Once you have a little, that is all it takes. There is no cure and it is terminal unless you make sure to get enough boost every now and then.

I did the same thing when I first got my sentra. I would just drive around wasting gas for the sake of enjoying my car. I'm sure when I get my sr20det I'll do the same thing. I doubt I'll be able to go back to N/A afetrwards.
