Re: Progress- Teg

You can get a good shine with just poish, but it will take a loooong time. You likely need to use sanding pads/paper to level the paint, and then you can polish it.

What kind of paint is it, and how long did it cure before you polished it?

Re: Progress- Teg

you will most likely not get a very good shine if it is a metallic color. I suggest shooting a couple layers of clear and wetsand/polish the clear, you'll get a much better shine this way.

Re: Progress- Teg

If that is Testors enamel, you need to wait a rather long time before polishing will take. Enamels notoriously take a long time to cure hard enough for polishing to work properly. Also, wax does not polish. Wax is... wax that you rub into a surface so that it fills tiny scratches, evening the surface making it smooth and shiney. To polish you need a polish, a polish is a fine grit that grinds out the tiny scratches, making the surface smooth and shiny.

Re: Re: Progress- Teg

Hmm, I have no clue why it doesn't shine...Maybe its the wing? Just kidding

You should get Meguiars ScratchX and polish it out once again and then put on wax or something I've never used wax

Also what's a good clear coat too use because I'm using rust-o-leum(sp) and I figure I don't really want to mess up and have to strip the whole thing for any kind of reason.
