Diesel anyone?

Hey All. As a poot american college student (emphasis on the poor part) I am trying to find a reliable, cheap car.

Specifically I am looking for a small car that runs on deisel if possible. I know VW makes these, does anybody know of any other cars- new or past that were put out with deisel engines? Turbo deisel would be really cool.

Any hints are greatly appreciated.

VW made some. BMW had a decent diesel, but a very rare few made it stateside. Mercedes made those diesels for ages. You could probably pick up a nice older mercedes diesel for pretty cheap, and look like an English professor too.

You could get a mid 90s diesel truck You could haul your crap back and forth to school and it should be relatively inexpensive.

I would go to Ebay, search, passenger vehicles, then plug in "diesel". I got 10 pages, mostly trucks, but a few viable BMWs, lots of Mercedes, and even a few Isuzu pickups and a volvo that looked promising.

My uncle had a 300 mercedies diesel. It was early 90s/late 80s. It was awesome. It lasted for ever and was good on gas. He only sold it because he needed a truck...
