Question If you know how to fix this you are god...

I have a 98 Ford Ranger. Its a 4 cylinder and its 2 wheel drive.

Now to the problem. I have replaced the high pressure power steering hose twice now. About 2 days after driving the truck the power steering wouldn't work anymore. When I removed the hose I found that the hose was cracked (this happened to both of the hoses I bought). This is where the problem is I don't know why the hose keeps cracking.

My father told me that it was probably a bad motor mount and that when the truck is started and the engine shakes that it is pulling on the hose and breaking it. However that idea was dismissed becasue thier is enough slack in the hose so that it isn't being pulled at all.

I appreciate all replys, Thank you

Were these both brand-new PS hoses? I've installed 'good' used ones that leaked worse than the one I pulled off! You could have a pump issue where pressure is not being bled off as it should. Stuck pressure relief/ bypass, etc. Or maybe a rack issue. IIRC- the 1998 has rack and pinion steering as opposed to recirculating ball.
G/luck

there are different ways of fixing the problem if ur using the same brand of power steering hose switch it OR go to a hydraulics shop and have them make you a hose by matching it up with your hose you have now
