Smile Le Mans content - 1:24 full Dauer 962

Here is the 1:24 Gold line Dauer Porsche 962 from LMM.

It is a resin kit and you get ALL the details. Nice end result, but it takes enormous time to finish this project.

Resin: Excellent
Fit: Could be worse, but could also be better.
Documentation: Good. 2 nice colour pages with a lot of technical photos are included.
Decals: The very bad thing about LMM. Bad quality. Does not adhere (use Johnson clear to "glue") and is stiff and very fragile. I hope LMM in the future could use Cardograf, which is a much, much better quality.
Instructions: Good. Much better than Fisher.
Aftermarket service: Excellent. Angéle Chapeau makes a very good job. Much, much better than Fisher (they don't answer emails!!)
Tires: Good. Real rubber. Not "hard resin" like Fisher.
Glass parts: Good. A "backup" is included (nice).

But now for the pictures:

Best regards

Re: Le Mans content - 1:24 full Dauer 962

Great work as usual, Allan!
We see the bad decal adhering at the front cowling (the German flag), this is really bad for such an expensive kit! I guess, adhering the decals with Johnson clear (aka Future) is difficult? Because you don't have much time for corrections?

Re: Re: Le Mans content - 1:24 full Dauer 962

Thanks to everybody all for the nice comments.

A few answers:

- The German flag looks for some strange reason bad on the picture of the front cowling, but it does NOT look bad in "real life". Must be something with reflections on the picture. The bad decals are much more the red stripes (main body + rear cowling), which strangely on the other hand looks good on the pictures. I have send an email to LMM concerning the general problems with the quality of the decals (not only for this kit).

- The upper parts does NOT fit on the main body. I built the kit as "full" and did not focus on that subject. But you can also buy the kit as "easy-line" (curbside).

- I am very close to finish the LMM 1:24 Porsche 908 ( second at Le Mans 1969). This is much more a curbside kit without all those details. I plan also to show this kit on those pages (but I think I can only have one kit for the contest???)

Best regards

Allan Nielsen

Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: 1994 Dauer Porsche 962

Fantastic work Allan, welcome to the contest, We're now up to 45 entries!
Le Mans Miniatures would have to be my favourite resin kit manufaturer (although that could change if I finaly get to see the new 1/24th Southern Cross kits).

Hi,

just a question about the kit:

a friend of mine told me, he had big problems to fix the exhaust-system.

Any problems with your kit?

His decals were ok.

Why didn´t you use CF-Decals??

Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: 1994 Dauer Porsche 962

Hello

Yes the exhaust-system was a nightmare, with a lot of "cut and paste" to make it fit. But after a lot of frustrations and endless corrections did it work out. But I was close to give up the project at that time.

I don't use CF-decals unless it is 1:12. This is a question about being able to finish a project. My projects are getting bigger and bigger and tend to getting to the point where nothing is ever finished, because the projects gets too ambitious. So therefore I decided to "keep it simple" in this area.

Best regards

Allan Nielsen
