viper makes butt hurt
k i live in a rural area, where there are a ton of two lane roads with miles of straightaways,yesterday goin to work im crusisin along at about 80, (theres never really any traffic) i see a car on the horizon by the time i catch it my heart is racing (it is a convertible viper, dont know what year, i think it was a new one) hes just goin at about 70(older guy), the speed limit is 65. So I drop it in third and i want to rip past him on the left. i put on my blinker and get in the oncoming lane. i get my nose past him, and he nails it and breaks the tires loose @ 70 mph and takes off like a bat outta hell. i wanna play so i keep my foot in it. i dont know how fast he went but by the time i got to 155 he was a dot on the horizon. (major stiffy) it wasnt a race but it sure was dam cool.

vipers are amazing beasts, i rember my run in w/ a viper on the hi-way, at first i wanted to run him but he didnt have any intentions of running be b/c commin im a driving a probe (viper >probe) so he didnt pay me no mind, then i start to cut traffic, and he see and he follows, i guess im intregueing him, so he stay with me along side and decieds to cut along with me, he takest he lead and i would go and try to regain it, the we hit the open road and we line up side by side form 60mph.. we hit it, i was wid him for like 2 sec lol then he put a hurting on me as well, like 4 bus lenghts.. he was gona.. vipers have crazy power and top end.. good death man..

My brother has a rt/10 with shorter gears, lightened flywheel, and full hennessy exhaust. I couldn't imagine meeting someone on the road faster then that although there certainly are but not very many. Hopefully he'll be on the AF video with his new superch........oops said too much. As much as I've been around vipers I still say the have one of the best exhaust tones of any car save the ferrari.

Yes it's true that higher numerical gearing will move the car off the blocks faster and also cut the top end speed but there is an OD gear in the tranny whether he has a 4 speed Auto or a 5 speed manual, he stated that he "dropped it into 3rd gear" so I'm banking he has a manual, if (and I'm just guessing) that OD ratio is say .70:1 then the overal final gearing would be 2.87:1, the engine may be fairly well tached out but depending on the tire diameter and how high of RPM the engine will spin safely then theoretically yes if he has enough HP to overcome the wind drag he can do 155 with the 4.10 gearing. Now if he has a 6 speed manual then he has 2 OD ratios and I think 6th gear is somewhere like .50:1 which puts the final drive at 2.05:1, with that ratio and again if he has enough HP to move the car against the wind then speeds like 155 and beyond are definitely a possibility.

Nice runs! If it was a convertible then it's the newer SRT-10 Viper, very fast. I have yet to run up against a Viper either at the track or on the street. I should get my chance next month at MATR (Mopars at the Rock in Rockingham NC).

Absolutely awesome! kills like that are so amazingly worthwhile
Ive seen a viper around a few times when I wasn't actually driving so I didnt have a chance to go em...but it would have been ugly and I would have enjoyed every minute of it
