My dead 1983 capri

i just bought a 81 capri off my friend, 4 speed manual inline 4 engine that has a cracked block, needs lots of work, i was told i could put a 351 in the engine bay, and one thing i thought of was putting the mach 1 engine in there, i know i need computers to run that engine and a new drive shafter and probably motor mounts, but what do you all think about that, i like modern engines better for reliability and power which i s why i'm thinking all this. Keep in mind this is a long term project, the car needs new wheels, interior, paint job, windows, has most of the gauges broken, no stereo, i mean literally every bit but the body and frame has to go. And i plan on doing it in my spare time, nights weekends by myself, except where i need some fabrication.

I think you might be bittig off a little more than you can handle. I might be wrong.

Why a Mach 1? Your are reffering to yje 4.6, right? That is a pretty wide engine, are you sure you have this figured out, before you jump into it?

I think biting off more than you can chew is a good description.

That's gonna be alot of work but it can be done. I hope you have patients and lots of money. I am almost done with a V6 swap, it was a 1996 V6, and I am putting in a 2001 Cobra engine and tranny. It's the crate engine from Rord Racing. I litterly replaced every single wire in the car, the engine AC system, the Coolant system. the brake booster, and 1/3rd of the brake lines. The entire fuel system, and the complete rear suspension and all the springs, and the tranny mount.

In other words your going to end up stripping the car.

Now for you....... well you can get the cobra crate engine, and use the F.A.S.T. system to handle the ignition, spart and timing of the engine. This will help since your not going to be able to use the Mach 1 Gauge and computers and other electronics in your car. It's much easier that way, and allows lots of flexability in installing a modular engine.

The modular engine will BARELY fit in your chassis, you will need to get a new K-member from Maximum motorsports and probally a new hood.
