Unhappy Feeling left out...

I don't have a Tiburon yet...nope, I am one of the unwashed barbarians who still don't own this wonderful piece of machinery...*let me emphasize this*...YET...

How I came across the 2003 Tiburon is a long story, one I'll not go into here...but since the first time I saw it on Yahoo Autos, I lusted for it...so many great styling cues, taken from the great autos of history, rolled into one sexy package...

And now?

Now all I have to do is wait but a few more months, and it looks like a brand new 2005 SE will be mine...in black of course...

So I know what you're all probably saying right now...

"Who is this schlub and what makes him think he can talk?"

I've done so much homework on Tiburons it's SCARY...and I've railed out at the injustice of no great aftermarket parts, I've looked at cardomain.com, and all the body-kitted Tiburons and the *sometimes* brainless owners that go along with them and it shames me pretty badly...

It worries me sometimes, that after I get my car and add all my little things to it to make it mine, that I'll get passed up by some high-school punk kid who received his car as a "present" and doesn't have an understanding on how it works and why...

Sure, I pass Civics every day driven by these folks, but see, I have a souped up Jeep Cherokee Sport and well...it's fast...

But that's my advantage now, and something I'll lose when I have something with some style...right now, my Jeep is "stealthy" (those of you who SHOULD get it, do), but when I have that beautiful black Tiburon, I know every single douchebag driving his parents old Civic or their Mustangs are going to want a go...

There HAS to be more aftermarket support for engine modding...I believe that FAR too much is made on body-kits and neon and all that crap that, while sometimes looking good, is all about "look at me"...then when they see you in their rear-view mirror, they can laugh...

I'm not so happy with that...

But what are the choices? Getting a Civic? No, please...or how about a WRX, the four door sedan that bicyclist and *cancer* survivor, Lance Armstrong endorses...should I care about what he drives? More importantly, do YOU?

Honestly, I hope that Tiburons never ARE like the Eclipse or Celica...I believe that some of us who really appreciate the Tiburon KNOW that we're driving something a little more special than the rest of the world...

But doesn't it hurt, knowing that the 2006 Eclipse is going to have 260 straight out of the factory?

Or how about the X-Terra, now boasting a 265-hp motor...do you want to have your doors blown off by a damned SUV?

I know I don't...

Sure, the Tiburon sells good...it's a great looking car and the warranty and all that yadda-yadda make it a great value...but what about those of us who want something more than a pretty face...what about those of us who look back on the muscle cars of the '70s with awe and wonder...why is Hyundai afraid to say "Okay, we're going to drop in the 3.8 motor, link it with the six-speed transmission and ship it with a supercharger."

*sigh*

There are those of us who are more than willing to pay for the performance...look at the new Mustang...it looks good, but that's only because it looks OLD...but it still has those 300 horses to play with...

How long do we have to wait for a great base to start off of, without having to worry about shooting pistons out of blocks and twisting things that should be straight?

Oh well...I guess this sounds like I'm a speed crazy douchebag, but maybe I just don't want to get the car I've been lusting after for so long now and have some test-tube baby in a RSX blow off my doors in his suppository shaped car...

1)The 2007 Tiburon is going to feature a supercharged 2.8l V6 with a 6 speed transmission.

2)While the Tiburon aftermarket isn't as obscenely huge as, let's say, the Civic's aftermarket, their are still several ways to get huge gains out of the Tib. You obviously haven't done that much homework.

Re: Feeling left out...

I know there are ways to get the Tiburon to go fast, faster and oh my shit, my eyeballs just exploded...yes, Mr. Sin, I HAVE been doing homework, like I may have mentioned, around three years of it...I meant that Hyundai should be doing more than just giving us the packages they are now...they already made the other car companies stand up and take notice with their warranties...now look how many are doing it...I just think that the next step needs to be much more support from the factory, otherwise we're going to be seeing alot of those Scion's out on the road, and we'll just have to pass them up again and again...

As for my self esteem...*can you hear me sigh?*...I appreciate the sentiment, but my self esteem is my own 'bidness', umkay?

This isn't some sensitive feel good, touchy touchy site *at least I hope not...zoinks*, I was just talking about getting passed up by someone who doesn't appreciate what he has under the hood...if anything depresses me, it's the dipshits they give licenses to these days...

Re: Feeling left out...

I was just rambling, Nisco, and taking up valuable bandwidth...I guess I was just looking around on the web, and I would find page upon page upon page of crap for other cars, but nothing really cool for Tiburons...

Everything is "bling-blinged" out...and you know, there ARE some of us out there that want the performance to back up the look...

Last night, I was perusing far far back into these forums, and I came across an article by our esteemed Nisco, about the fast Tiburon...

I dunno...perhaps there is some hope yet...after hearing time and time again about how the Delta engine is weak and all this crap, it's great to see some people out there proving them wrong...

There's more out there for the Tibs then you think. Nisco & me are proof of that.

Re: Feeling left out...

if companies and people actually took teh time to test the delta, theyd see its actually a very well put to gether engine, and holds very well under boost...

it sucks that we have such little aftermarket support, yes...
but we have companies who are dedicated to only tiburons and jus hyundais.....

body kits are to help the car look different... sometimes it loks better, some times it looks worse...
depends on your taste
very rarely will a company put out a kit that actually helps with areodynamics... (the 350z has one from C-west i believe)
i dont knwo how much it helps with drag coefficient.. but who honestly cares...

tiburons are getting more and more popular, and with the growth of teh tiburon.. you will see a growth of the aftermarket scene...

but when it boils down to it, how many new comapnies will actually take teh time out and make sure they have quality products...
the companies out now have a great rep (well.. most of them) and they have amazing products... so im happy with whats out... eventhough the stuff can be really expensive at times

there may not be a ton of companies that have aftermarket products for tibs and they may be hard to ifnd and expensive at times but if there were a ton of companies supporting the tib there would also be a ton of tibs on the road and you would see them every where you go and lose that individualness you have now i personly dont mind the lack of companies i havnt had a real hard time finding stuff yet but i know 9 times out of 10 it will be good quality and good service hey maybe even better then 9 out of 10

Re: Feeling left out...

hmm.. yes these things are true.. and plus hyundai is coming out with the bse/h.a.r.d. parts soon (well its taking forever but eventually) and that will expand the parts and it will let people know that the tib is worth fixin up!

Yeah, they keep postponing H.A.R.D. each and every time.
