RIP racers

hey all

no im not ur mother but this is a warning that goes out to every racer out there including myself.

around this time last year i had a race with a mitsu Magna sports, we raced down some local roads bout 20 mins from my place, on roads that i knew well, the race went down a hill then up the other side, i won and closed down about 170 (kph) before the crest of the hill, he kept going past me and as a consequence nearly lost controll as the hill is quite bumpy and turns quite suddenly to the left after the apex.

a couple of weeks prior to this race 2 cars had been racing on the same road, one had lossed control and consequently 4 ppl died in the accident, NOT only the driver but also his 3 passengers including this best mate.

I pass the crosses on the side of the road almost every day, and as its coming up on the anniversary, so i thought it was relevent.

I dont really care if you die! sounds cold but its true, if you do 200 on the public roads in the wet, and wrap ur car around a pole, it was a stupid risk you took and you paid for it, but my heart goes out to EVERYONE you know, as you WILL be missed.
PLEASE ppl dont do anything stupid especially with passengers in your car, and other cas on the road, its just not worth it.

Im not saying dont race just be careful and selective about the roads, conditions and the cars you race in.
When it comes to driving ability, brag to your friends, your family, your girlfriend but NEVER to yourself.
The last thing we need in a RIP section of the website!

condolences to the families of the victims

RIP racers

This is nice.

My condolences to all of them.
And sorry for all the racers who had died. But they may have been died happily together with their beloved car.

Cheer up guys.

Amen

I said it in a racing tips post...Don't be a moron with your racing...but if you are gonna be a moron, don't endanger the lives of others with your carelessness

Re: RIP racers

Same thing happened here. Some idiot in his Civic talked a drunk kid (which is where the problem started) into racing down the highway. The drunks Eclipse went off in the median, rolled, and then his NOS tank exploded. Driver died, passenger was burned up, and the passenger in the back damaged her spine. Drinking and racing don't mix. The thing that made me maddest was the way the Civic guy took it. He said it was dumb to drink and race. I hate that because it's likely he bought it for them. Sympathies to the families and friends.

Re: RIP racers

Something similar happened here awhile back. These two guys were at this strip club called Fantasies and they both had nice cars..I think they were corvettes or something. And they got into an arguement about whose car was faster and they both went out the door to race. Neither one of them made it a block away. They both lost control at the same point and slammed their cars into eachother and then mangled them around a telephone pole. Be safe you guys!!

Not to seem offended, but that entire statement almost seemed to be aimed at Civic driver's in general. Instead you should have used the phrase "Ricer" or "Riced out vehicle" rather than Civic. I just so happen to be a Civic driver, and I took it that way. I'm not saying you intended it that way nor am I offended, but use your words more carefully in place.

I agree entirely with this thread. There are dangers and risks of street racing, but there are also dangers in just driving in general. Some of the best citizen drivers can become victum of an accident simply because of the stupidity of another driver. You are always at risk no matter what the situation when you are driving. L8...

i would never race like that on a highway that i'm not familar with. there could be too many blind turns, or bumpy road conditions that would upset the balance of the car. those guys lost it because they were being dumb. end of story. the most important thing in street racing is, common sense, and have a very good idea, and have to be aware of your surrounding. obviously those guys had neither of those traits.

Re: RIP racers

Yes, a sobering reminder why street racing is incredibly dangerous...I could have died a number of times between the ages of 16 and 18....now that I'm a month removed from my 21st birthday, I'm a little bit more sensible and privy to the situation that I'm in.

Re: RIP racers

yea, couple of tools, from my school, were doing 130 (Mind you 50 MPH limit) on 360 here in Mechanicsville, in their Mustang. Well, they went around a corner, and a car pulled out infront of them, they t-boned them, and killed both the guy and girl. The two kids survived, but are being charged with manslaughter. There are still skid marks on the road to remind us, not to be stupid...

there is a dark side to street racing that this website seldom portrays, which like it or not ppl comes with the territory.
we see only the romatic side of speeeeed, not the reality, which is far more harsh.

i always feel so sorry for the innocent ppl in these situations, they always come off second best to the drink driver

its sad, statistically when you are in yr 8 (13 yrs old) when u finnish school at least 1 person in ur year will be dead, ok this generally involves a car accident, often drink related.

k that was a little off topic but the point is drive safe EVERYONE! you can only die once.

Re: RIP racers

You can only die once? Tell that to the millions of drug users who OD only to be revived. There was a guy around here who died 3 times from heroin ODs.

Re: RIP racers

yeah i know man all my friends want 2 race alot. like on saturday we raced from my house 2 six flags thats like a good 1 hour and there was trafix we were dogging trafic. my friends eclipse gs-t just kept smoking us until my friend in a 04 civic decided 2 go in the last lane and pass 2 trucks. we barley missed the truck in the front. we got to six flags and talked about it and we then realized we should stop doing that @ 8-30 am. we put our lifes @ risk and other people as well. so yeah just be safe guys. just race in the freeway when its empty.
