I still wont read them

http://www.pcpitstop.com/spycheck/eula.asp

When Doug Heckman was installing a PC Pitstop program, he actually read the EULA. In it, he found a clause stating that he could get financial compensation if he e-mailed PC Pitstop. The result: a $1,000 check, and proof that people don't read EULAs (3,000 people before him didn't notice it). The goal of this was to prove that one should read all EULAs, so that one can see if an app is spyware if it is buried in the EULA."

Gee, maybe clicking on the included link and skimming over the article could provide the answer?

Re: I still wont read them

I always read my EULAs for downloaded stuff, but something like a purchased game from the store, I'll skip.

Re: I still wont read them

I dunno, but cant we all just get a bong.

we should be mighty high rather than high and mighty.. jk

anyways, is the point that we should all read EULAs in case we can get 1000 dollars? I mean, what program was this? I'll download it for a thousand bucks, sheesh. (but I know Im not gonna just go d/l a program and get $1000, so I dont care... I got the point and I dont feel like reading the article.)

But I don't see any reason to read the whole damn EULA for everything.. its usually way too much crap anyways. Its not like everyones gonna get money from EULAs now.

The point of the article is that most of us don't read the EULAs and because of that we often agree to have spyware or other crap installed.

Its true its a big oversight of us not to read them just because of laziness.

Re: I still wont read them

yeah I figured, but why would you download something fishy anyways? I don't download anything that I don't trust. And if I was going to, it would only be if I had a good antivirus program installed.

so basically, if you are downloading something from an unknown website, spend 20 minutes reading the EULA so you can find out that it comes with free spyware and adware, and you just wasted 20 minutes, and the program is no good. But thats just the way I personally look at it.

Re: I still wont read them

Most spyware does install itself. Good thing I stopped using IE and am happy now with firefox.
