deals

Well, I need a minivan so I'm thinking about the Venture. I figure we should be able to a great deal on the van, what with the Uplander coming out and the Venture being discontinued and all. For sure I'd rather have an Odyessy or Sienna, but if I can get 10k off the sticker, I might go for it. Anyone out there gotten any good deals on the 2005?

Re: deals

I went in to the showroom expecting to buy a Venture but never made it past the Uplander. It was love at first sight. Bought the one on the floor and never even bothered to look at the others in the back lot.

Re: deals

I have heard that dealerships will do that sort of thing on discontinued models, but not sure if it's too early in the model year to get the best deals. I have heard that some of the best times to get deals are toward the end of the month,( especially if the dealer is short of the sales goal for the month,) going during bad weather,( as the salesperson wouldn't want to be outside as much, and the bad weather would cut down of traffic inside the dealership, ) and going towards the end of the day as the salespeople want to go home or wherever they want to go after work. You might want to try and pose this question over in the other forum "Cars in General". There are 2 sub forums Dealer experiences, and car buying Q&A that might yield some more responses from other members who had a similar situation , but not with the Venture.

Re: Re: deals

Thanks for your reply. You are right it's probably too early in the year for the real cut-rate. But dealers will make incredible deals on discontinued models. I noticed this with my Mazda Protege5 - I paid $17K in 2002, but by late 2003 the model was discontinued for the Mazda3 and the exact same car was going for 12900 - ouch. Well, today I went in and the dealer just offered invoice minus the rebates ($4500) - a decent price but he wasn't moving as much as I wanted. So I might wait a couple of months - only hope that the colors/style I prefer will still be available. I'm not too worried as they're certainly not flying off the lots, since it's old technology and many people will opt for the Uplander. And if it doesn't work out with the Chevy, I'll get the MPV (although it is a bit smaller).

peace

Do you have multiple dealers in your area? That can work to your advantage. Go around and get quotes from all the dealers, and you can use it to bargain with. Are you only interested in new? There might be some deals to be had on 2004 0r 2005 that are used,(demonstrator vehicles, or possible trade-in where former owner did not like the vehicle and traded it in for something else.) These vehicles will more than likely have low miles and the price might be better as some depreciation has already taken place. I bought one of my 1997's in '98 at a dealer. The former owner traded it in for a Blazer. It had only 16,000 miles on it. Since the vans were fairly new in our area , they were in short supply, so I was lucky to find it as it had just come into the dealership an hour before I called.
