new head gasket

to boost at 15 psi, do you need to upgrade to a metal head gasket? now for the actual upgrade, do you have to just machien the black, the gasket, and torque it down at 72 fl/lbs?

i actually have a follow up question too. if the original head gasket has never blown, is there any need to machine the block and the gasket? or can i just replace it?

Re: new head gasket

I'm not to familiar with the 7m's as most people know on here, I deal with the 2jz questions, but you probably should buy a metal head gasket just to be safe. Use the old one till it blows, it's pretty much gonna happen. after that install the metal one. I don't see any need to have to machiene anything for the gasket to be installed unless it's a high milage motor.

Re: new head gasket

i'd have to disagree with the drive it till it blows because if ur in the middle of driving and in the middle of no where and decide to drive on the BHG u increase ur chance of warping the head and block
