A couple good dealerships

I've looked at this category for months and don't have any specific bad experiences. I've noticed some bad sales staff at a few but I have sales experience myself since I used to be one. Maybe I just knew the game.

Some good dealerships:

Rufe Chevrolet, Carlisle, PA. If he still works there, look up Charles Carothers. Good gracious he's the most honest and friendly man I've met in a long time. He sold six used vehicles to my family when I was growing up and every one was a solid car (a testament to the dealership's purchasing) and a fair deal which was a testament to Charles since they do things the old fashioned way there.

Sutliff Autoplex, Mechanicsburg, PA. My father bought a couple trucks there and they have excellent customer service. Their sales technique is a touch pushy, but they take care of their customers.

Pacific BMW, Glendale, CA. I never bought a car there, but shopped for a few and bought parts there. They have a great sales staff and the parts counter guys KNOW the cars very well. BMWs are a maze of parts possibilities and they knew the right questions to ask to make sure I got the right part numbers.

Allen Gwynn Chevrolet, Glendale, CA. I've only dealt with their service department, but what a great experience.

Toyota of Glendale, Glendale, CA. I've only dealt with their parts and service departments, but they were both exemplary. Knowledgable parts guys and service guys who are willing to part with information instead of the standard, "I'd have to look at it" answer.

Stapleford's Chev/Olds in St. Georges, DE. I was stranded, and in an opportunity where they could have screwed me, they cut me a break. I had a master cylinder installed, bled, and back on the road for $36. That was in 1993 and a lot could have changed since then, but at least give them the benefit of the doubt.

Anyone else have good dealer experiences???

Re: A couple good dealerships

Be very careful when having a car diagnosed at
Merrimack Street Volvo in Manchester NH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They told me I had a faulty oil pan gasket which was sucking air and making my valves tap.
The engine would have to be lifted to change it. They also told me that I had a bad oil leak comming from my under my intake manifold. (two separate problems) Total cost for repairs would be $800.00 plus. I have it all in writing!

I took my S80 to Marks European Cars in Methuen MA. For a secound oppinion.
Mark fixed my problems for under $100.00 Turns out I had a bad oil filter gasket which was causing the oil leak and at the same time sucking air making my valves tap.
Oil Change is all I needed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Merrimack Volvo like most dealers are very nice to deal with but they have perfected the art of
deception to unknown customers that think they are getting the best from a dealer. The only people that should go to dealers are peole with their cars still under warrantee, other than that, your setting yourselfs up for a royal ripping off!!
