Progress: 2003 Rallye Catalunya Peugeot 206 WRC
Back to the Motorsport Forum and Peugeots.
![]() Starting on a Marlboro liveried 206 WRC. The car with which Gilles and Herve Panizzi won the 206’s final victory in the rain at Catalunya 2003. Hopefully it will look low and menacing like this when finished… Plenty of changes are needed to get the Tamiya kit up to proper Evo 3 specification. Will also be adding some details over and above what I’ve done in the past. Here I’ve made an insert to fit in behind the front grill, still needs the two vertical posts on each side. Also removed the bonnet to display the attempt I’ll make at some engine detail. Here the underside has been sanded smooth so I can start adding the bracing and other details. The Evo 3 featured a large carbon fibre air duct under the bonnet that should look cool if I can recreate it properly. Making a new fuel tank for the rear as well as a toolkit bag to fit inside the spare. Still needs to be a few mm taller. The Studio 27 PE set has fittings for the newer tank. Rollcage has been modified in the regular manner and the updated Renaissance dash has to be beefed up on the bottom to fit properly. Thanks to Joel for pointing that out on his 206 build. The Renaissance rear wing is a massive improvement over the kit's wing. But it also needs some beefing up to fit well, perhaps a result of resin shrinkage? The seats are Reji Recaros with the extra head support as used by the Panizzi Brothers. The only detail I’m missing is the correct cursive script crew names for the seats, will have to make do with the ones from the kit. ![]() Both the front and rear wheel arches have been built up with epoxy putty to prevent any see-through. Also modified the vents in front of the front wheels so there will be no seam visible as on the real car. Finally, a look at some of the engine pieces I plan to use. The block is from a Tamiya 405 Dakar kit. Most of these bits will be covered by pipes, wires and a big green air filter. Wish me luck.

Good luck! You're off to a great start already, but please don't neglect the GT40
![]() Was meaning to ask you - how similar, in your opinion, is the red on this Pug to Rosso Scuderia?

From what I can see, only the panels that used to cover the rollcage areas near the door panels have been removed.

Re: Progress: 2003 Rallye Catalunya Peugeot 206 WRC
Yeah, main change to the roll cage was to remove the carbon fibre side panels that were present on the '99-early 2000 car. Also removed the flat piece of plastic on the driver’s side for the data card. I'll be adding some padding later on.
I don't know exactly what correlation there is between the Peugeot and Ferrari Marlboro Red Alex, except that they are both plenty bright! I've got a few possibilities I'm thinking about paint wise. I'll take and post a comparison picture between the two rear wings for you aeroace. Basically the Renaissance is wider, just like the real car. Tamiya skimped and just added a few strakes. Hi Mikko! Stratos is on the backburner, as is the Mairesse GT40. Will get back to both at some stage... |

Very nice so far. The 206 is a beautiful car. After the original white livery I think the red Marlboro is my fav. Nothing beats the tarmac stance captured right..
I don't suppose you have decals going spare from that 405 kit do you?? |

Re: Progress: 2003 Rallye Catalunya Peugeot 206 WRC
Forgot to mention that I will have my eyes on that lowering of the suspension! Will look awesome and if someone could pull it off it will be you Phil! Could be something for the AFMOTY 05 if we could fool those street car guys to go for a sponsored car.
