Re: Drifting in a Maro?

There was someoen at the AutoX here locally who was doing it in a Trans Am last year, it can def be done but alot more people see Camaros and domestics as Drag not Drift. You would def. need anice suspension setup for it, and lots of money for rubber.

Re: Drifting in a Maro?

Camaros are too clumsy (particualrily 3rd gen/older) and off-balanced.. yeah a $$$ suspension set-up, a lot of weight transfer and removal to help out the weight ratio..

Re: Drifting in a Maro?

I see trans ams autocrossing all the time, not sure if i would ever drift in one though. Not what they were built for, they were built for raw power, not finesse.

Re: Drifting in a Maro?

i love how everyone thinks that drifting is a japanese art, granted they made it a sport and do it with points and finesse, but any redneck who drives down dirt roads in a rear wheel drive car has been drifting for years. Ive been drifting my camaro around windy roads for years. granted i dont do it for as long as the "drifting" cars do, but shit, a camaro is a natural car for drifting because its high power, rear wheel drive, and inhearant instability.

i've never found my car to be clumsy at all... it always does exactly what i think it will and it is easy to regain control in it... just by replacing the worn stock parts on the third gens you can get them to handle almost as well as some of the best japanese cars... compared to newer cars the third gen's only real draw back is that it doesn't have rack and pinion steering...
