Lightbulb Check Engine Light

Hello all,

I'v had this problem with this little light there on the dash

The car is a 1996 accent 4dr with about 100km on it.
Say ~10 months ago the check engine light would appear, and dissapear 1-2 days after and repeat that every once and then.
However during the recent months, since perhaps ~5 months, it has been on everytime 24/7.

I'v read that with other cars this might be a symptom for a broken o2 sensor. Could it be this? Poped the hood open, took a good look at the inside but nothing seems out of the ordinary tho I'm not a legendary mechanic heh.

Last year the car was in a lil accident. ~10kmh front end hit on hardened snow. Cracked bumper, and a piece fell off. This kind of thing (shield?) between the radiator and the 4 pipes going under from the cylinders. Garage that changed bumper said not to worry bout that part.

Also, I'm not sure if its the car or the increasing gaz prices but it seems the car lost a tiny wee bit of pep..

Engine/Trans oils changed about 5k ago, maintenance done before winter. Didnt have to do any repairs at all since purchasing it 2 years ago. (Crashed/rebuilt/came with extra engine and some spare parts with 80km for 2k$)

Any things I can check by myself before taking it to Mr. Hyundai?

Thanks

Re: Check Engine Light

You will need to have the code pulled for any of us to hypothesis about the problem. until then anything is possible. my favorite suggestion is to bring a dozen or so donuts to a mechanic shop in the morning ....say on a monday when it is slow, and ask for them to retrieve your code(s).....bribery never hurts when done correctly.

How dare you corrupt the mind of a customer into bribing the mechanic. hmmm donuts. Damn it now I'm hungry.
