Progress : Blitz Chaser (JZX100)

My first kit of 2005. 2004 was marked by lots of starting of kits, but very little finishing. Things will be different this year, hopefully.

The kit is an Aoshima Blitz Chaser (JZX100). It will be a basic out-of-box build (better chance of actually finishing it). Color will be Lamborghini Grigio Avalon Metallic from Cobra Colors. Hopefully I'll get some coats of color on this weekend.

Body covered with VX Primer, also from Cobra Colors. Molded intercooler was cut out to be replaced by scratchbuild one.

Wheels will be 19" Hamann PG3's with deep offset rear wheels. Chrome will be stripped to be replace with a less shiny finish.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I need to the motivation to finish this kit.

Just FYI for those who might want to build this kit. I came across this while dry fitting the suspension. The kit wheels are Blitz Technospeed Z1's. Aoshima's wheels are almost always female, but these are male. OOB is fine, but I'm using other wheels (female) and brakes, so I'll need to convert them. Just strange since all of Aoshima's chassis for Chaser/Cresta/Mark II JZX100 and JZX90 are identical. After checking my other kits, there is a small tree of suspension parts (VR) for kits with female wheels. Makes conversion easy. I guess the older stock Chaser/Cresta/Mark II kits used male wheels. The new drift and VIP versions used female wheels, so they threw in the new tree.

Updates. I sprayed a couple of mists coats on the Chaser. I'll put on some smoother heavier coats in the next few days, then add some shine with many layers of clear.

I was going do something fancy, colorwise, with the wheels (gold, bronze or matt black), but decided with just plain old silver in the end. As mentioned, the wheels are Hamann PG3's, also known as Aoshiima's Luxy Type 4 wheels. Not sure why they didn't use the real name (probably a licensing thing). The dishes are taken from a set of Aoshima Vienna Kreis. I cut the front dishes to be a bit shallower than the rears for the staggered look. There are some slight gaps from my less than steady cutting hand, but acceptable. Decals and a slight blackwash to follow.

Interior will be various shades of gray. Pics of that soon.
