Start out with an outline somthing like this. (Move around the sequence if you want, this is just to give you the basic idea)
1. Yourself. A. Interests B.Asperations 2. Qualifications A. Schooling B. Certification C. Other (Letters of recomendation that sort of thing 3. Past work experience A. Experience relivent to desired job B. Non Relivent experence Then just go through and jot down what you are going to put under each group, then expand each point so you get a few paragraphs out of each number. After that just go through and brush it up so it reads easily and not like a checklist Hope that helps

It's all in the interview. Write a basic 3-7 page resume then practice for the interview.

I havnt been in a situation where Ive needed a CV for a job yet but ive been told lots about them.
The CV is to get the interview not the job. Dont put too much in, make it so they want to find out more

When I read a resume, one of the first things I want to see is the person's accomplishments. Anyone can go to school for training, anyone can show up for a job--- but what did you do or what do you do that makes you special and better than anyone else for the position.
Remember, you need to attract the attention of the person reading your resume. For the last job I posted on monster.com, I received over 150 resumes. Needless to say, I didn't read every one completely. I looked for key things that caught my attention. Your resume should be tailored for each individual response to a job offer easy to do with word processors. A goal is important as long as it isn't too lofty or unrealistic. "I want to work my way up to the president of the company" may be realistic to you but to the person who reads your resume the fist time, it isn't. Consider what may be the next logical step for this position (managing your peers or teamleader) or state that you want to learn this position as well as how it interfaces with the surrounding positions so the company can decide what the next best step is. Some personal data is nice but we really don't want to know you were the spelling bee champion in 5th grade. Focus on more recent personal interests to show that you can function outside of work. Lastly, do include any education formal or otherwise as well as some recent work history. Unless your as old as I am, you should be able to keep it all on one page. Hope this helps.... Good luck! |

As someone who looks over resumes and does interviews, I can tell you that qualifications and work history are the most important thing. I could give a rats ass about the fluffy stuff people put on there Resumes. The interview is the most important place to really bring what you can offer to the company. The resume is just to let them know that you have the qualifications to even talk with you.
