Re: Corolla question

I doubt it...that car is made for the twisties, not necessarily the straights

But all i know about corollas is that they have the AE86, so don't trust me

Re: Corolla question

AE86 is a frame style at the end of every VIN.
These carollas wernt "made for the twisties" they where made to be a great sport/econo car of their time. They happened to hande superbly with their light frame design, near neutral balence, and RWD set up. These arent cars for drag racing. these cars stock are far from running 14's. there isnt much aftermarket support as far as power modifications go. Removing the catalytic converter removes at most 2psi of back pressure. that translates to a 3-5% gain tops. and from a just over 100hp engine that is just about 3-5hp.
Here is a link to a web page all about turning your measly 1.6l 4AGE into anywhere from 115hp-400+hp beast
If you have a Small port engine you can have your manifold and heads mapped and ported to the specs of a large port engine. any further porting would extend peak power way into RPM's not safe for stock internals/bottom end.
You could also swap out the stock 4AGE heads for 20valve 4AGe heads. or jsut go for an entire motor swap and swap in a 4AGZE in. The only problem iwththe 4AGZE is that the most poowerful ever made was in the low 200hp's. but they came stock with 145hp. which is a 30hp jump for the 4AGE 115bhp.

thx for the help.. The reason I ask is the fact that the person selling it has a video of it running a 13.9.. I took that as the best run ever. So I just assumed that he ran on average a low 14. Im not sure what all he did to the engine but he did say he rebuilt it with some stronger components.. Im going to go test drive it a bit and see what the Ass dyno says about its power.
